My guess is that it is false and the ASUN Commissioner leak the false rumor out to get more followers and publicity on Twitter.

RE: NJIT leaving A-Sun
This should kill the UAC talk

The ASun non FCS half needs NJIT to have any claim to an auto bid

I figured something like this would happen.

Now the NCAA doesnt have to make the decison about whether or not what the ASun was asking is allowable

If anyone else is wondering, the fairly amateurish @ASUNCommish account seems to be legit. On June 2, @ASUNSports retweeted the @ASUNCommish statement that racism is bad.

I'm not sure an article from Lacrosse Bucket citing Jeff Goodman's tweet makes this move seem official

Hartford probably wants CAA membership but if they really became uncomfortable with all the public schools then the MAAC is there too.

If they left I wonder if there’s interest in replacing them with Central Conn St—a school that needs to just be called Conn St.

CCSU has nowhere to put football if they leave the NEC.

CCSU is also an academic equivalent to Southern Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut States. This is the northeast- you don't get to elevate the name of your school based on your athletic program.

NJIT needs to find a home for men's and women's tennis if they leave the ASUN. (NEC or MAAC would be ideal, but maybe independent)

So was this whole thing just some concocted stunt to get the commissioner Twitter followers?

Irony would be NJIT getting RMU’s NEC spot. **** froze over and those razor thin NJ and NYC private school member budgets welcomed a school that practically made NEC almost walkable by distance/proximity.

I think it'll be at least a couple of days before we find out.

You'd think a pro like Jeff Goodman wouldn't get so easily fooled, or for that matter be in on it, but I guess stranger things have happened.

If NJIT was joining America East, David would’ve given us the heads up. That’s how we know the ASUN Commissioner is right. Things that fool Goodman don’t fool DavidSt.

True. He predicted NJIT to the MEAC the other day, so NJIT to the AE or NEC isn’t going to happen.

I am not super familiar with Jeff Goodman, but we've seen the ASUN commissioner in action with the United Athletic Conference thing. I trust a random basketball journalist at Stadium over the ASUN Commissioner.

New Haven, Bentley and Southern New Hampshire have a shot in the NEC, and one of NEC will get Robert Morris's spot.
