Most watch address in history. Period.

Quote:President Trump's address and the Democratic response averaged 15.23 million viewers from 9 to 11 p.m. ET on ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC in Nielsen's fast national ratings. That's down about 25 percent from the comparable figure last year
Preliminary figures show the annual address down by double digits versus 2019.

He knocked the SOTU out of the park tonight. Better than Reagan. If he can maintain some of tonight's discipline, there will be no Dem party (but a new curse will alas eventually arise.) Kudos, Donald. Ya dun good!

You don't remember Reagan. Reagan was magic. Noone but JFK in my lifetime comes close.

Corrrect. Reagan was a former leading man Hollywood actor and could deliver a scripted speech like no other president in my lifetime. Better yet, he was quick witted with an ad lib--another talent no doubt honed over his years in Hollywood. Reagan is my favorite president since Ive been alive. That said, despite lacking Reagans fatherly charm, Trump is well on his way to being my second favorite president (which is impressive considering I was somewhat skeptical of his presidential potential during the 2016 primaries).

As for last nights delivery---I think his voice sounded a bit hoarse----like he might be fighting a cold. I wouldnt be surprised if he may have had to take a bit off the delivery to keep his voice for the entire speech.

Reagan is a solid number one in my love of a president but Trump is far ahead in the gititdone slot. Have to say we really needed Trump now. He is perfect for the times.

Reagan broke the Carter stagflation. He broke the Soviet Union. He broke the OPEC cartel by getting rid of Jimmy Carter's "windfall profits tax." He was instrumental in winning the 45 year long Cold War. He brought morning in America, rejecting the Carter doom and gloom and belief in limits. He started the longest economic expansion in American history by reducing taxes and increasing incentives to invest.

He also started the incarceration of millions of Americans that should never been in prison. His “war on drugs” and “tough on crime” laws were a failure from the start. Add in the start of private prisons and what could go wrong with that? Then you have the release of mentally ill people instead of treatment and that helped in what we are seeing today. With the homeless and even with all the shootings.

So while Reagan economics and foreign policy was what this country needed after Carter. On the social side his policies were a failure. Some we are still paying for today.

Ha! what a slanted headline. Lets wait until the cable news networks are counted before we declare the rating numbers. I think most would agree the Fox News ratings will add a significant bump.

What part of preliminary do you not understand?

What part of "slanted" do you not understand?

Your headline is a weak liberal attempt to manufacture something remotely positive for their party as they suffer through one of their worst weeks in memory. And, it has failed.

The problems with the mentally ill go back to the reforms in the 60s.

The "mass incarceration" helped drive down crime, which was out of control. It was a massive success. We are a much safer nation now. People forget how bad it was. Miami Vice and NYPD Blue weren't invented in a vacuum.
