The more I hear the more I like.
Hard not to pull for the guy, that's for sure!
Thanks for sharing that video. Love his energy and enthusiasm. His coaching animation reminds me of Buzz Williams on the sidelines and overall career journey wise of Chris Beard. Hope he becomes successful, if not at UNCW then another program.
Another thought, how did he fit in with McGrath? They could not be more different in background and personality.
I'm willing to bet McGrath was intimidated and probably a bit insecure around him. He has more experieince and probably knows more about the game than McGrath ever dreamed. And i'll guarantee the players had more respect for him and a closer connection with him than McGrath. Wouldn't we all? Not to mention, if you were playing pickup ball, which guy would you choose to be on your team?
In regard to playing oickup with these two guys its not close, CB would destroy him every time. Not that it matters when it comes to coaching the game.

What a difference a coach makes. UNCW is alive and well. Gotta get ahead of Elon.

My favorite part? Last time Jackie kind of stood by the side and held back. This time he was in it and all smiles. He's just a great guy.

Likely because he’s not a “Carolina Guy”.
Sounds good to me. I’m more than tired of the “Carolina Way” by now.

My favorite part... Dodd yelling "Yeah Burke, Yeah Burke... Murfreesboro... Murfreesboro" they know he was slept on just like them. Yeah he might not have the resume of somebody that "wants' this job but you can't tell me he hasn't earned it. That's my coach. Keep sleeping on Eastern NC and it will keep proving you wrong.

With you all the way Gary. IMO, that win and this three game complete turn around is all I need to know who we need at the helm. I do think it's important he has stellar x's and o's guys on his staff. Esleeck seems to be the guy putting together the offense. But, I don't see that as the job of the HC. Recruit, train and motivate is where he will excel. And the best part of this is that he seems completely confident in allowing his assistants to take charge. The more I hear, the more it's apparent McGrath was a micro manager and wasn't listening to his assistants or allowing them to have authority at all. It was his downfall, because it looks like he had picked some incredible assistants.
I also didn't realize what Dodd was saying. They're all underdogs as mid major players, so that connection seems to be the driving force he brings to the table and they're embracing it.

Alex Riley tweeted:
"If @Rob14UNCW leads UNCW back to a .500 league record and gets a win in the CAA Tourney, Jimmy Bass’ search should end at Trask Coliseum"

RE: Rob Burke
General Question - how many conference wins does Burke need to have the "Interim" tag removed?
We were 0-6 in the CAA when he took over, if we could get to 7 wins (7-11 in CAA), does that make it a done deal? That would make him 7-5 over his 12 game "audition".

I suspect it will have to do as much with how competitive we are in the losses under his tenure as the actual number. For instance, the Hofstra loss would almost count as a 'win' (being blown out by Elon) when looking at Burke's results.
I think that Alex Riley metric of winning most of his games (6-6, plus a win in the CAA tournament) would do it.

While i get your point, and it's certainly a good one, I don't give points for Moral victories(Hofstra). That said It certainly doesn't hurt his cause.
I Think with 6-6 he'd certainly earn an interview, but we'd have a competitive scenario. If he goes 8-4, 9-3 Vs. the top half of the league he really doesn't leave Bass a choice.

I think 7 (5 more) wins gets him the job considering how young the team is.

If he a winning record - after the disaster that he walked into - and is not hired...and the next guy is anything but successful right away...can you imagine the backlash? This permanent hire is probably a career decision for Jimmy Bass...

As Coach Burke said. He wants to make this decision tough on Jimmy.
Given when we fired CB and how many games Burke is getting, I just can't see any situation where Burke isn't at least a finalist.
But I have no inside knowledge on the situation, what is going through Jimmy's mind, or how the Board of Trustees/big boosters think. I'm just an alum & fan who is lucky enough to sit a few feet away from Burke during every game.
I'll just enjoy the ride and be thankful it's not me making these decisions.

If they go 7-5 and all of the games are close-as in no blowouts he would be in a good spot,8-4 or better it's gonna be tough tp say no. But who knows what other candidates are out there.
