Don't pay any attention to their womens team. Didn't realize she was gone. Maybe even a better chance he'd come on board then.

Actually she stepped down April,2019 is the official word. A group of players/parents made some accusations about her and it was over for her.

RE: Rob Burke
Rob Burke has now offered at least 3 2021 scholarships that we know of. This is a win-win situation for him.

1) He gets the HC job and is already ahead of the game

2) He doesn't get the job... He can use those connections to his advantage if he wants to be on the staff of whoever does become our next HC.

3) If he doesn't end up staying at UNCW in any capacity he can use these connections on the job hunt.

makes perfect sense. But, like others, i've never seen offers go out from an interim coach before. Honestly, it's a thing for him to do to get the job. He's not going though the motions,he's treating it like it's his

I imagine Jimmy could have prevented him from making offers too. That’s a good sign that he’s allowing Burke to have full HC privileges underneath the Interim HC title.

It is at the very least odd to have a interim coach make an offer. A player would have to look at it with some trepidation I would think. If Burke does not get the job the offer will be up to the head coach making the decisions at that time. It is only a verbal offer for the most part and can change at any time by either side. I would also not be surprised at all if these offers are to kids that CB was recruiting for a while.

RE: Rob Burke
Need to remember that recruiting was going on before McGrath left. Likely these were targets on the radar aleady since they fill an obvious need. No way he's had a chance to develop brand new recruitiing targets since he took on the HC job.
Burke also mentioned he had a "few players in mind" to fill our scholarships, so it seems these could be those players. Whether he gets the job or not, i'm sure he'd like to stay on as an assistant. Having relationships with current players and recruits would certainly increase his chances of staying on as a valuable assistant.

These definitely aren't new targets... Will Felton for example took an unofficial visit to the UNC game. I think him offering these recruits is for sure him putting himself in position to get the UNCW job. However, in the back of his mind he knows that he could be somewhere else next season. It could be valuable for him to go into other interviews saying he already has established relationships with certain 2021 recruits. I honestly think the "few players in mind" kids he's referring to are 2020 guys, which we don't really know what he's thinking there yet.

Thanks for sharing that video. Love his energy and enthusiasm. His coaching animation reminds me of Buzz Williams on the sidelines and overall career journey wise of Chris Beard. Hope he becomes successful, if not at UNCW then another program.

Another thought, how did he fit in with McGrath? They could not be more different in background and personality.

I'm willing to bet McGrath was intimidated and probably a bit insecure around him. He has more experieince and probably knows more about the game than McGrath ever dreamed. And i'll guarantee the players had more respect for him and a closer connection with him than McGrath. Wouldn't we all? Not to mention, if you were playing pickup ball, which guy would you choose to be on your team?

Good article on Coach Burke

Lol, what I read was his dad telling him how dumb our inbounds play was against NU where we threw the ball under their basket with 2.6 seconds left. My sentiment exactly. Dumbest play i've ever seen.
