I think people are trying to over-complicate this. RS is the same pattern as Fuente and Norvell, would stay for 20 years if given the chance, so why would we change now?

or until a P5 program gave him an offer.

RE: Who will Memphis hire?
I understand why Silverfield would be a good hire.

Why do some of you think Will Healy would not work for Memphis. He’s a young coach, from TN (although the other side of the state), played college ball in TN, coached in TN, bringing Austin Peay back from the dead. Seems like a natural.

Because he hasn't worked out in the G4. How are we to imagine he would work out in the P6?

Scottie Montgomery?

.... I'm kidding of course. Bill Clark would be an excellent choice though.

Continuity with who we return for next season. Now is not the time to change systems. We are top dog....keep rolling!

Silverfield will also likely be able to keep most of the recruiting class and transfers would be minimal. Everything is set up for next years team to be better than this one if we can keep things rolling. Whether that translates to the same amount of wins who knows. Things can bounce funny but we return almost everything.

Then he's a liar, b/c he said in his presser today that if hired full time, he will stay 20 years and retire, that's he's not looking for more money or a bigger job.

Who you guys playing in the Hawaii bowl?

Congrats on the season. I would say act like you’ve been there before but you haven’t. Enjoy your first BCS/NYD game you guys earned it.

I would say they should go after Boise’s coach. It would be easy to negotiate. Higher pay, more premier conference, take the next step in your career. Only thing is the MWC is trash these days so who knows if he can actually coach.

I don't think the MWC is trash, but Harsin doesn't seen too happy with conference leadership or even his school at the moment (wants more PR support). Doesn't mean he's going anywhere...certainly not Memphis. Said something similar to what Cal said at Memphis about remaining committed as long as the school does to moving forward. Doesn't want to settle. That may be reassuring to some, but to me at least cracked the door.

ETA: Comments begin about halfway through the video.

I think thats him signalling that he "might" be available if a big enough postion came through... he isnt going for any G5 openings. Hes gonna wait till something like Washington opens up, just like his predecessor did. He doesnt have a need to leave for anything but the perfect position.

RE: Who will Memphis hire?
It would be an absolute coup if someone from the conference snagged Harsin away.

From the perspective of eliminating the MWC from regular NY6 contention, the solution seems to be add Boise State. Stealing Boise's coaching staff could work just as well without adding a team from Idaho.

I don't think so. He's had multiple offers, including the NFL, for more money and has stayed. I think he's telling the truth. But even if we get four more years of success, I'll take that.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure we told him no. Too disruptive. He just needs to go. Especially if Silverfield is going to get the permanent gig.

Afaik, the rest of Norvell's staff is staying through the Cotton Bowl. Not saying that's 100%, but nobody has said otherwise so far.

I got the impression Norvell wouldn't coach at AD Veatch's press conference. IIRC, he was asked several times about it and remained noncommittal...saying something like he's going to busy with his new job, but we can talk about it down the road.

Norvell offered to stick around for the Cotton Bowl. My impression is he didn't intend to coach the team, but just be a tag-a-long for company, and our AD has moved on to focus on his replacement, in Silverfield.
