From an article I found: "The city of Norfolk, Va., agreed to sell Lamberts Point Golf Course, a nine-hole course owned by the city but operated privately, to the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), "

They will be using this spot to PUMP WATER UNDERGROUND to help fill diminishing aquifers.

"pump that water into the Potomac aquifer. "

https://www.norfolk.gov/AgendaCenter/Vie...ileID=8134

I get it, but I can nearly guarantee you, that if the golf course was sitting next to UVA, VT, W&M etc, there would be public outrage about turning it into an industrial/sanitation whatever. The city should be striving to get more land and more beautification, more recreation and more research labs around the school.

Didnt know the course was failing. I played it a few times and found it to be quite nice. Also, quite difficult. Gorgeous views.

None of those cities are sinking. Norfolk is. New ideas have to be considered on how to fight it.

The golf course was built on a closed landfill. I don’t see how they will be permitted to pump water into the ground. Nor build a treatment facility. That needs some ‘splainin’.

Being naive to his credentials (I'll go google that) other than he's Franks son and an assistant for the Sooners that would a solid hire to me.

Would it even be worth it for him? I would much rather be the Assistant Head Coach at a top 5 program than risk my career with a program like ODU. If Sooners keep winning and producing he'll be a P5 coach one day.

Exactly! He may not want the job.

It would be a substantial pay raise for him. Now what gets him a better offer continuing to be an assistant coach or a head coach at a lower level program?

I’m not a big fan but there are lots of candidates that would be inferior

Who could replace BW?
I would go after the North Dakota Bisons head coach. They're an FCS school, but they beat Power 5s on their schedule. Recently they beat K-State and Iowa.

You'd have to hire the AD and school president there because it has been 3 different head coaches over the last 7 years at North Dakota

I don't really know Blackwell at all.

But, just bc you are a good coordinator doesn't mean you are a good head coach.

Based on the fact that he has successfully turned around two horrid defenses in one year flat, I'd be willing to give the dude a try I think. His work with our D, and ECUs D is nothing short of miraculous.

That's interesting. I like that, esp if Stinespring and the D staff were to remain, but I know that's complicated.

So that makes him a good defensive coordinator but not necessarily a good head coach nor a “winner.”

That's going to be a risk with any OC or DC that gets the promotion. Can they handle the other side of the ball? Sometimes they work out, sometimes they don't.

I think if you're interested in kicking the tires, then this is the one time I'd recommend a mid-season firing here. Give Blackwell the interim reins and see if he can keep the ship afloat. If he does a good enough job to keep it, focus on revamping the offensive coaching.

He seems like a worthwhile risk at this point.

I really dont know much about him. Does he seem like someone that is charismatic? Does he look/sound like someone that goes into Moms kitchen and seals the deal? Im not sure bc I really havent seen him speak publicly
