What 'D1 waiver' does BYU need?

Now i will say we have at least a year to decide who ...
ESPN will be a key to any decision made. So a teams TV market will be a HUGE part of our decision. Money folks ... It's gonna come down to DOLLARS ... 07-coffee3

That’s not what our contract says so I’ll just go with what credible media is reporting.

However many years ago they were in the WAC which was the most powerful "outsider" FB conference when we were in C-USA, so they still have some heritage / name recognition. Sure, their BB would have to be brought up to speed I guess, and I don't know about their other sports.

On a related note, some of you have said "kick out Tulsa", and sure their FB has been down recently, but it wasn't too long ago that they beat Notre Dame there. Their BB is good. I saw a thing today that their softball coach's record is something like 529-239 and he's been to 10 NCAA tournaments. Have we ever been? Their baseball is good. Tulane has good baseball. Yeah, yeah, those aren't revenue sports, but still they are part of the overall ath dept performance.

Everyone forgets about La Tech... that’s why no one wants them

This (adding BYU & the best BB school) would make the AAC stronger all around & likely put the AAC equal or better than the PAC - substantiating the argument for P6. If BYU wants to join, great, if not, stay at 11 until a school that communicates interest passes the value test. No other schools currently meet the value added test.

BYU football only. Add a BB only school if you can get a good one. Not sure who that would be honestly, and it really isn't that big of a deal anyway. Nothing else makes any sense.

VCU, Dayton, St Louis, Richmond ... probably not Dayton (Cincy no like) ... UMass. Keep in mind this is for all sports except football. UMass would want to bring football and I don't see this happening.
Also ... BYU has their own TV network ... And would need the supposed D1 waiver ... so that ain't happening. Army is still a football possibility but the Army/Navy game would bring issues.
I'm still for UAB. As long as they're building the new football stadium ... They qualify !! 07-coffee3

BYU does not have their own network.

BYU has their own production facility & produces/ broadcasts one FB game per year in their contract with ESPN. This would fit well with the AAC arrangement with ESPN+ under the new contract.

Keep building the conference brand. You do that by becoming as regional and tightly fit as possible. UCONN leaving can become a positive thing. If we add the right school. Sitting still and adding no one helps nothing.

Don’t add Army. Don’t add UAB. Don’t add USM. No more basketball only schools. No more football only schools. Unless of course we want to replicate every failed model we’ve tried before.

I would add UNLV basketball only and Boise and BYU football only in a heartbeat. Despite your hallucinations about failed models.

The man is thinking 04-cheers

I'd lose my **** if I could see the Tigers in Vegas.

Hell if I know. When have you seen ESPN announce a single teams games on their networks and allow them to put on school network? B10/SEC can’t do that. But this makes more sense:

“BYU has their own production facility & produces/ broadcasts one FB game per year in their contract with ESPN. This would fit well with the AAC arrangement with ESPN+ under the new contract.”
