I think the conference had a pretty good day today. FAU closed really strong. FIU did too, in my opinion. Every signee for FIU is a consensus 3-star player, except for our punter signee, who just so happened to be a JUCO All-American, so there's that. Paws Up.

Obsess much? Why are you even over here other than to just be a jerk? Go back to your board and continue obsessing with your 50 page thread all about what CUSA is doing.

The bottom CUSA schools need a lot of help. No amount of coaching will help them keep up the rest of CUSA. They should change to the tripple option if they can’t recruit base level G5 talent.
Edit: I take what I said back, even the bottom of CUSA filled out pretty nicely (with the exception of Charlotte).

Any Marshall fan with a brain knows that Doc can't coach these kids anyway so our recruiting class means nothing. We have been at or near the top for the past 9 years and have 1 title. Doc is a bum, having talent like that and still losing further proves the point that we need a coach that can COACH and develop talent.

Tbe "bottom" cusa schools. Charlotte was nowhere near the bottom last year and will likely be even better next year. These rankings are a joke. You might want to look at what Charlotte needed and what they got, paying particular attention to transfers which aren't included in these rankings.

Transfers can be important, but the facts are Charlotte was ranked 14, 11, 11, and 10 in the past 4 years.

I still don’t know what we are going to do about our kicking/punting. I miss Greg Jospeh. We missed far too many kicks and lost far too many close games.
We actually had our QB punting out of desperation. Our special teams was a clown show.

FAU also picked up a couple of interesting PWOs.
Terique Owens, son of Terrell Owens
and Warren Sapp II, son of Warren Sapp

Yes because it would be crazy if one recruiting analyst's subjective examination determines FIU has a superior recruiting class. Just crazy. As of right now, FIU's average recruit ranking on 247 is essentially tied with FAU (it's actually slightly higher). That is partially because one of our top signees, Brian Dillard, chose FIU over FAU yesterday, even after Lane famously visited him in the maternity ward. The Miami Herald story is far from fake news. It's one expert's opinion.
FAU had a great day yesterday. Both teams have bright futures in C-USA.

RE: Football recruiting
We picked up our 3rd graduate transfer - this time a former 4-star recruit (from Charlotte) who has played at Stanford the past 3 years. Brian Chaffin is a center, so that's 2 graduate transfer OL we've picked up (plus an all-Ivy League QB out of Harvard). Most of the guys we signed yesterday though were preferred walk-ons. Rice's changing its tuition guidelines has probably made a massive difference in its ability to get PWO's. It's about time the school's wealth has made a difference in athletics in a positive manner.
BTW another reason the recruiting rankings are a waste of time is they don't even consider transfers for the most part. Two of the three we have coming in were all-conference selections in 2018 for major FCS conferences.
I think we signed 14 kids yesterday - only 4 of them were scholarship. They still have 4 or 5 scholarship openings and most of those are being held for other graduate transfer possibilities (we're still hoping to get a Stanford FB, and another one I hope we get is a DL from Columbia).

Interesting catch for FAU. Since T.O. admits he only signed with UT Chattanooga because he thought he was becoming a Vol; does Terique think he signed with the Gators? On a serious note if little Owens and little Sapp are half as good their daddies; you done good!

“Lane is looking more at Grad Transfers and JUCO kids.”
We have like 2 JUCOs and 1 Grad Transfer. The truth is this story was written 1 day before the end of the signing period. FAU keeps our recruiting as quiet as possible so after the last day push, your “experts” are eating crow.

I feel pretty good about the 4-year school transfers we brought in. Healy is trying to get experienced skill players on the roster first, so that was his focus this season. Will be interesting to see his recruiting philosophy at work going forward. One thing we already know is he's not aiming for low hanging fruit as Lambert did.

This. FAU has signed a great class, and according to 247Sports ranking system, at this point they are #1 this year. That is an undeniable fact. But, the fact is that many other CUSA schools had also a great recruiting class, albeit without 27 signees like FAU has at this moment. FIU did win a recruiting war against FAU after a late an all out attack by FAU for Brian Dillard, and that is a fact as well. FIU has 3 high-level transfers
already on campus which are, naturally, not taken into account for these ratings, and we feel comfortable one or two of them will be immediate contributors next season.
In essence, FAU had a great day yesterday, and so did UNT, LaTech, and several other CUSA teams, including FIU. CUSA as a whole improved dramatically in average per players from last season.
