Yeah, probably the most underrated thing is the lack of fumbles. A lot of those yards are hard fought with guys trying to hit him and presumably the football all over, but I don't think he's given it up a single time this season so far. Knock on wood.
But I'm still looking forward to the return of Doaks. I don't think their styles are all that different, but I could see them really wearing down a defense between the two of them, especially if we can utilize both of them at once with one as lead blocker for the other.
Great point. He's like a tank that just bounces off defenders but protects the rock. I love the guy because he just steadily goes about his business. It's a long season so whenever Doaks gets back it will only reinforce the trenches. Love our depth at this position.

Getting Doaks back will be big. Not because we aren't getting production from the position but it's not sustainable to have one back take 90%+ of the handoffs. I think they're a little different in that Doaks isn't as powerful but is a bit more versatile but they're pretty similar.

What seems to be missing is pass receptions out of the backfield.
I remember seeing Warren slipping out and being open several times yesterday, but I don't remember any pass attempts to him. I kept thinking, "what about a wheel route to Warren?"
Once again, if we force safeties or linebackers to stay with him, it helps open up other things - WR's downfield or QB scrambles.

I saw that a lot. They would bring Warren into the backfield just before the snap, like he was there for blitz protection. Then he would slip out right after the snap and would generally be uncovered. I got the feeling he was the 2nd or 3rd option in the progression, but that our passing game doesn't often proceed past the first option yet.

Pretty sure they ran a wheel route to him toward the OU sideline. There was another receiver in the area, so it wasn't a true wheel route. Those are usually naked to that side. The play I recall was well covered by OU.

Warren has 8 TDs in 4 games. 4 mores scores and he will have matched Pead’s high mark in 2011. Needs 9 more on the season to match David Small’s school record for a season. Totally in reach.
Warren had 45 TDs his senior year at Toledo Central Catholic. Some guys just have a knack for getting in the end zone.

If we're inside the five - Warren's the guy I want to have the ball. He keeps those legs grinding!

Back when I was a student. If Small would have played for UC football 10-15 years later (when more people started taking note of the program), he would be part of every day discourse around UC football:
5th all time in rushing yards for a career (2,963)
9th rushing yards for a season (1179)
two entries in the top 10 for rushing yards in a game (233 and 219)
2nd all-time in career rushing TDs (31)
1st in TDs for a single season (17)
3rd in TDs for a single game (4)

This is why CBDF has made him the go to workhorse. Warren's body and running style are perfect for this role. That TDs number is just mind bogglin'. I have no idea where that ranks for most TDs in one season of Ohio high school football but it has to be toward the top.

The record is Maurice Hall with 50 td’s set in the year 2000. Warren’s 45 would tie for 4th.

Michael Warren will go down as one of the 3 or 4 greatest backs in UC history. We are fortunate to have him.

What's the record at UC for rushing TDS in a season? 10 though 5 games has to have Warren on track.
Edit:. Nevermind - only have to go back 3 posts to see it. David Small - 7 more to go to tie.

"Give it to small" is the first thing I remember yelling at a uc football game.

Mike’s 11 TDs on the season ties him with 5 others for 6th most in a single season.

Haven't come across anything. Big Fick didn't mention it in the post game presser.
