We beat the following teams that were ranked during 2017:
Memphis
Memphis
Navy (who slaughtered FAU)
USF
AUBURN
That’s great but that will only get you #12 by the CFP.
Boise was ranked #3 by the BCS in 2010
Thats because they put in work the year before finishing 12-1 with an end of the year ranking of #11 and #13 in the AP and Coaches respectively. Thats the reality for non blue bloods. You have to be good usually for two seasons in order to get paid off. One year to get attention and build hype and then a second year to deliver on the hype. UH had it within reach a couple seasons ago but the coach couldn't keep the team focused (Probably because he was too busy interviewing for the job in Austin).
Yes I know I’ve made the exact same point. No flash in the pan seasons like UCF followed up by O’fer campaign
Since 2010 for UCF:
2010: Conference Champs, Liberty Bowl win
2011: average/bad year
2012: Eastern Division Champs, St Pete Bowl win
2013: Conference Champs, Fiesta Bowl win
2014: Conference Champs, Bowl Appearance
2015: Horrid season
2016: 6-6 and bowl appearance
2017: Conference and National Champs, 13-0, Peach Bowl win
That's 4 conference titles in 8 years and 6 bowl appearances/4 bowl victories, 2 NY6 bowl victories, 2 Top 10 finishes, 3 Top 25 finishes, and bowl wins over Georgia, Baylor, and Auburn.
I'm sure La Tech has a similar record during that time span.
