As usual, the opposite of reality for Mr. -14. Except for you, racecarguy and oruvoice flaming, the thread has been positive about Henderson being a great back. Your negative fairy tale about the upcoming media deal was also easily shot down.
Sorry, I did not introduce name calling and personal comments to the the thread. Since you keep bringing up my negative rating caused by 3 posters hitting me with -3, I looked at the details of your high rating. MULTIPLE +3s by a few posters. You certainly know how to work the system.
And I will reiterate my position on the question of this thread. DeAngelo has no comparable running backs in any two years of their career. As for the “amazing offensive line” he had, I recall many times when DeAngelo bounced off the line with no openings and reversed field (as he did many times) and made a negative play into a big gain.

Probably the most ludicrous statement I’ve read on this forum this year.

Neither are name calling or personal in Memphis I grew up in. Maybe be different in Montreal. All the plus 3s for your great posts and meticulous grammar huh?
You don't think it is a personal insult to say that someone's opinion is ludicrous or dumb as hell? You seem to enjoy going in depth, I don't. Just an observation that the old you and new you, universally seem to not impress anyone.
In any event, most agree that the comparison is valid, nobody else is saying that it is dumb or ludicrous. Most think that your opinion are both.

Great post! Excellent videos (and it's very easy to get excited about this years team!!)
What's funny is that this whole debate started over the statement that to compare the two is the most ludicrous statement on the board this year.
It is a GREAT debate. It is stupid to call it the most ludicrous, but consider the source.

Not to diminish either back, but a common theme to many of the highlights is terrific blocking - especially downfield.

The Sporting News or some self proclaimed internet SAT/ACT brainiac/insider...tough call.

Henderson and Miller both. There is no way that ISU could have rushed RF like they did with Henderson in the game. We would have been dumping it off to him the whole time. But I'm sure ISU had injury bugs too, and even then it would have been a very tight game. ISU was really good team.

Had the refs not blown multiple calls, especially the roughing call that cost us an int that prevented a TD... yeah, that game was easily winnable.

As far as the QB conversation, why not start a separate thread? This one veered away from Henderson really much too soon.
Will not go that far. Maybe the next Curtis Steele. Do not think Henderson could carry the team on his shoulders at the same production level, without some threat of a passing game as DeAngelo did his Sr year.
Every running back on that team had very good stats. Henderson MIGHT not be as good as DeAngelo, but he is faster and more of a homerun threat, and we have more weapons this year.
You compare Henderson to Curtis Steele? Seriously?

I was thinking about this very thread when they said that Henderson was only 30 yard from breaking the all-time single game rushing record… and he sat most of the 4th quarter. Not to mention, STILL split carries with Taylor.

Yeah, there's no comparing those two backs.
DeAngelo had 262 yards on 33 carries. Henderson had 233 on 14 carries. This is definitely not one against the other, which is what was so stupid when the thread was started. We had 3 posters who were putting down and/or trying to diminish what Henderson has done.
If I had to choose between the two I would probably still take DeAngelo, because if I needed 5 yards I would prefer to have the ball in his hands over Henderson's, BUT Henderson breaking long ones early gives us a nice cushion in a lot of games. As Norvell and others mentioned, Henderson has gotten bigger and stronger from his first two seasons without sacrificing any speed and we don't know what his ceiling is.
Also, what the 3 posters seem to forget is that DeAngelo had a lot of games like Henderson; where he lost yards or didn't gain much on many carries, but popped a couple of big ones along the way.
Either way, they are both obviously generational running backs and the two best we have had in our history.
(and lay off the spelling, I was on voice talk when I did the tweet)
I'm still leaning toward DeAngelo, but it's true. Henderson is pulling off 40+ yard runs like they grow on trees. What Henderson is doing is beyond incredible. I also think that last year, Henderson doesn't have the lateral quickness to make the cut that makes the safety (or DB) miss in the middle of the field on I think his first touchdown.

We know he has the speed but I'm also amazed by his strength.
Both are great running backs. When D played, he was more of the focus on our offense.
Henderson isn't getting the touches D got but he's still putting up the numbers. Henderson is more north south to me than D was. He barely moves more than five yards to the left or right. He just seems to bust the hole and he's gone. Not sure how that translates to the NFL but he sure gets it done on the college level.

It would be super fun to be able to see how they would do in the other's shoes. I'm not convinced that Henderson is durable enough to handle all of DeAngelo's carries and he would have had a lot more carries for little or no gain than DeAngelo, but if he had all those carries and played against teams that put an extra man in the box, once he got past that first line of defense he would have broken even more long ones.
