Team will be better; good enough to make the NIT.
Then we will lose all the seniors.
Tubby will get another year and then be let go (after 4)
Then we'll see who gets hired.
There is really no light at the end of the tunnel yet.
Yes there is light at the end of the tunnel. The only problem is that it is an oncoming train.

I'm not a Tubby lover, admittedly he was the wrong hire and I have no confidence in him bringing back our basketball program to its winning ways. But, what never gets mentioned is this sh!t fire of a mess our basketball programs currently in, is it all started under Josh Pastners watch with the blessing of RC and Shirley Raines. Football got fixed and basketball will get fixed also.

Will you give it a f'n rest already.
Back to back injury plagued season in which we still won 18 and 19 games against a much tougher schedule and made it to the conference finals WITHOUT two of our Sr back court rotation players in the final year. One was injured in tournament opening game and the other back in Memphis due to family reasons. The year before our top player went down TWICE with injury and missed half of the conference season.
Orlando inherited 5 players rated 4 star when he took over the team. This current mess rest solely at his feet.

Top 30 attendance and 12,000 tickets sold, top 10 arena, top 10 practice facility on the way, lots of recruits within a 200 mile radius, national brand, four 4* recruits on the roster with a pipeline to more.
Blah blah blah blah.

ncrdbl1, your love for everything Josh and RC knows no bounds. This basketball program started hitting the bricks the last 4 years of Pastners reign. Multiple transfers, horrible record against top 25 teams, embarrassing losses in the NCAA's, blow out losses at home, recruiting was on a downward trend, fans leaving the program in droves, and oh yea, we won't mention the CBU debacle. Dude, if you don't believe this program didn't start going in the sh!tter under Pastners watch, then your dumber than I thought.

Pastner's mixed success was to be expected. It's what you get when you hire a 32 year old coach with no head coaching experience to run a Top 25 program. Josh's mistake was too much control and not hiring an XO assistant. Josh landed talent. With talent, you have a shot at beating the Cincy's of the world.
Memphis fans have selective memories. Few remember Cal's first 5 years and act like the last 4 were what we enjoyed the whole time. Few remember the dumpster fire Josh took over, the 4 straight NCAA tournaments, but focus on the last 2 years. Years in which he still committed players better than anything Tubby has brought in.
There are 3 players that were committed or enrolled at Memphis that will be starting for KU next year. These 3 will be winning another Big12 title for Kansas while we suffer through .500 AAC record while watching JUCO basketball.
What's the excuse of a head coach for 20 years, that talking heads keep calling a HOF coach (despite the invite from the Naismith folks), not having signed a single Top 100 recruit at a school that has a history of landing multiple recruits of this caliber (i.e. 2015)? What's the excuse for the same alleged HOF coach not landing a single Memphis player, despite the plethora of talent in the area that other D-1 schools seem to like? Or even, beating a team inside the Top 60?
With Josh, we could actually compete and beat Top 25 teams. With Tubby, we have ZERO chance.
I would even play along with the moral victory BS if we were watching a rotation of 7 underclassmen take these lumps. There would be actually something being built and hope for the future. Instead, we're watching a bunch of 2 year mediocre mercenaries playing horrible basketball where the future is we get to watch this Sh*t show start all over again next spring.

What is the point of this argument? Pastner did a good job initially of leveraging the Tiger brand and bringing in high-level recruits. We had talented teams that ultimately seemed to underachieve which was the frustration. In the layer years, performance wained, players transferred, & recruiting slowed. It was time to move on from Pastner...NO DOUBT. Enter Tubby, who now has failed to retain or bring in high-level talent & there is a push to move on from him.
It doesnt matter whether Pastner or Tubby took over the worse dumpster fire or which has underperformed more. It was time to move on fron Pastner and, if Tubby cant up his recruiting game, it will be time to move on from him.
