Tubby, and coaches just like him, have perfected the practice of maximizing contracts and getting millions of dollars while jumping from job to job and robbing fan base after Fanbase. It is nothing short of theft and it is time to stop it now. If you want to make Memphis basketball great again, you must have the basketballs to stand up to Tubby Smith and kick him to the curb. Coaches that divide the fan base, put them on one side of the line or the other, need to go away. What we need is a coach that will bring us all together while he makes Memphis basketball great again. The outsourcing of our basketball talent to other cities and universities has got to stop. I’m OK with some talent leaving. Good trade is healthy. But I want fair trade. We keep the best, they get the leftovers. We need to keep our talent in the city of Memphis where it belongs and where we need it. We need reform, we need drastic change, and if you provide the environment that is necessary, the basketball talent in the city of Memphis will return to our university and overnight Memphis basketball will be great again. Going through the same crap as we did with Pastner..Can’t get rid of a Coach because of the stupid insane contracts they gave these 2.. I stepped away from something I loved, starting with the last 2 years of Pastner.. The hiring of Tubby wasn’t going to get me back..He was a horrible hire and I said it from day 1.. When they make a competent hire I’ll be back on board..

Do you eat the remaining 3 years on contract. Or do you wait and hope that we improve to the point where the fans start showing back up again.

It is all but certain that we will not see a dime of the Grizzlies payment this year. If this continues then we could lose close to $3 million anyway if we keep him full term

This is not your father's NIT. You almost have to be a NCAA bubble team in order to make the NIT these days.

The top seeds are determined before the field is selected. First four out are your top 4 seeds. Then you can assume the next four out are cinch to make the next four seeds. That is 1/4 of the field right there. Then you have the regular season champions in lesser conferences who do not win their conference tournaments. You can most likely see 4 spots taken up by them. So more than likely before they even start the selection over a 1/3 of the spots are already taken. You are looking at maybe 20 spots open for the selection committee. Of which at least half if not more will be power conferences which did not make it to the NCAA.

Nothing short of 20-22 wins based on our recent SOS will get us an NIT invite. Orlando's name may give us a little edge but not sure if it will be enough.

I’m starting to realize that this will be the case. Going to be a depressing Tubby tenure. Only wish something crazy would happen where he’s let go at the end of the season. Dunno what that would take tho, losing every game left might do it but that’s obviously not going to happen. Any one know how many names are on that petition? Gonna be a long 2.5 years . . .

I wonder how much his stay at Memphis will hurt his legacy. You’ll have at least one fan base knowing the HOF stuff is bullsh*t

FWIW, everyone had resigned themselves (including me) to pastner being our coach for the foreseeable future, too-right before we found out he wasn’t.
