If you care so much about the poor then why have you not taken advantage of the ability to donate more of your money to the federal government?

The government takes thousands from me every single year. I don't even take all the deductions that I am entitled to take because it takes too much time.

I am very fortunate and I have no problem donating my time and money to people in need.

Good on you however for not denying what I said.

I prefer to take care of my responsibilities before I donate my money to organizations that actually help the poor instead of creating a multi-generational underclass like the welfare system does. I don't work so Latoya can lay on her fat ass eating Doritos and watching Steve Harvey, I work so that my children can have a better life than I did.

dang that was extremely racist

What was racist about that? Please be specific. You made the claim, back it up.

yeah.....I want to hear that one in 'spades'......

from both of dems....

edit: read further....now I understand what I already knew....

I just find it so odd that the government is going to give people more of their hard earned money and the liberals are so stupid they think its a bad thing.

If money is all you care about then it isn't a bad thing right now.

But that's all republicans care about right?

No, they just feel that perhaps letting people keep their money and letting them determine how to use it is more in line with the principles our country was founded on than the democrat thought that people should give the government their money and let them determine the best way to use it. It's unfortunate that those who support democrats can't quite grasp economic concepts.

I would be 100% for it if I really thought that was going to happen but you and I know darn well that isn't going to happen.

Sure, we might see a few more bucks in our pockets up front but we are going to see a loss of entitlements on the back end when they vote to cut medicare and social security.

They are robbing Peter to pay Paul.

I thought you Democrats were in denial that anything was wrong with Social Security and Medicare?

But once again this isn't about me. This is the main difference in my opinion between progressives and conservatives. Where as progressives think about how this is going to effect the country, especially the poorest among us, conservatives only care about how it's going to effect them.

Time and time again conservatives on this forum prove that they care only about their own pocket books and no one else's

And leftists care about taking from everybody else's pocketbook and not their own.

If you care so much about the poor then why have you not taken advantage of the ability to donate more of your money to the federal government?

Studies show that conservatives donate more to charity than liberals. Liberals want to donate OTHER people's money.

RE: The House has passed the Tax Bill
http://kylewingfield.blog.myajc.com/2017...-the-rich/

"...One comparison is how much of this bill’s benefits they receive relative to how much of the tax they pay*. I’ve compiled two tables from data I got from the left-leaning Tax Policy Center (see below for links and explanations). The first table compares the proportion of all income tax paid by each group to the proportion of this tax bill’s benefits they receive**. See it here:
https://cmgajckylewingfield.files.wordpr...c-2017.jpg

As you can see, the bottom four income groups all receive a larger share of the tax bill’s benefits than the share they pay in federal income taxes (see the fourth column, where a positive number is better). Even within the top quintile, the top 1 percent gets a smaller share of the tax bill’s benefits relative to what they pay in income taxes.
So, yeah, maybe it doesn’t look like a lot to say the bottom quintile gets only 1 percent of the tax cut. But in light of the fact that group pays minus-4 percent of all income taxes, it looks much better.
The second table makes the same comparison, but uses all federal taxes paid (not just income tax).
https://cmgajckylewingfield.files.wordpr...c-2017.jpg

The distribution is more even when other federal taxes are taken into account. Still, the basic story is the same: The bottom income groups fare better than the top groups relative to what they pay now (except for an odd advantage in this case for those in the 96th through 99th percentiles; I’m not sure how to explain that)...."

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congres...mp-n831161

Quote:WASHINGTON — The Senate voted along party lines after midnight Tuesday to pass a sweeping $1.5 trillion tax bill that slashes tax rates for corporations, provides new breaks for private businesses and reorganizes the individual tax code.

The House approved the bill earlier Tuesday but will have to vote again on Wednesday. Democrats in the Senate persuaded the chamber's parliamentarian that several minor provisions in the House bill violated Senate rules, forcing the House into an embarrassing second vote.

One of those provisions would allow 529 savings accounts, which are now used for college tuition, to help finance home schooling. Another would exempt a small tuition-free college in Kentucky from a new tax on endowments.

With Vice President Mike Pence presiding over the chamber and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin on hand, the Senate voted 51-48 in favor of the bill. The Senate's bill will go back to the House for a final vote, after which President Donald Trump could sign the package, dubbed the Tax Cuts And Jobs Act, into law before week's end. It would be his first significant legislative accomplishment and the biggest tax overhaul in a generation.
