Lol.

Geeeeez.

It’s already starting to congeal, even petrify, the TDS that is.

Where and what will this look like by ‘20, even ‘24?!?

M’gosh.

Saw today that gun sales are up something like 27% in certain areas. Is that the left arming up on .22’s and such?

Better stiffen up on the wrist musculature as well...

Trump didn't carry his home state - wasn't even close.

I do think the Democrats need a strong candidate to emerge from the upper Midwest or deep South. But I don't believe Brown is that guy. By 2020 or 2024 I think we'll get a celebrity or athlete making a serious run. People will laugh but how is that any different than Reagan or Trump? I thought some people were saying Lebron James should make a serious run? If Peyton Manning runs for Senator and wins, maybe that will motivate someone. But I'll pass on Charles Barkley - he's not a strong enough golfer.

Right. Try to win as a democrat and not win your home state of Ohio.

New York hasn't had any serious campaigning done in it since 1988 for a reason.

Reagan was governor of California and involved in politics for a long time before 1980.

Well JMU Dunk seems to think Pence will carry New York (or maybe he's counting on California?).

We will never have another 1984 or 1972 trouncing again. At the very least, California, NY, Hawaii, DC and a few other west coast and NE states will go blue every time; and most of the Deep South and Mountain West will go red.

Cuban? I had same thought. Like him or not, he is very smart and would dominate a debate against anyone else on that list.

he's already stated he would run as ®....

'course it's still early.......he could easily change his mind....

hell, IIRC, most on this board had DJT running as either (D) or (I)....

People forget Trump ran in the primaries in 2012. If Cuban wants to do this, he will need one cycle to develop an organization and expertise needed.

Owl were you on the betting thread who predicted Hillary over Trump, you picked Hillary yes?

I don't recall specifically any bets that anyone took me up. I do think I offered a leave this site bet but no one responded to me so I let it go. People don't come after me like other libs for some reason.

From the get go though, I was annoyed with Hillary as the Democratic choice in 2016. I told my ultra-liberal brothers in December 2015 she was an awful choice and wasn't a sure thing to win. I voted for Bernie in the primary and her in November, but was never 'With Her', that's for sure.

That's probably why people don't come at you like other libs. At least you aren't completely delusional.

Deval Patrick is a millionaire former executive. And he's Black. But I just don't think he has "it."

it's sad how many on this board whiffed that premise......

he only ran ® b/c it was best method....

IMO, too many people get rankled over party lines.....

that's the silliest problem between the two parties as they exist today....hell, it's why I truly despise politics.....

Not true. On May 16, 2011 — about 8-9 months before the first primary — Trump publicly stated that he wouldn’t be a candidate in 2012.

From what I hear, Martin O'Malley has been camped out in Iowa and will be a factor in the 2020 primaries.

4. Senator Cory Booker
5. Senator Kirstin Gillibrand
6. Senator Sherrod Brown
7. Governor Deval Patrick
8. Billionaire Tom Steyer
9. Senator Bernie Sanders
10. Secretary Julian Castro

I think the primary field will be immense. Note that Booker might need to decide between a slam dunk reelection to the Senate and a run for the Presidency.

Progressive field

Sanders, Harris, Steyer, Warren, Brown - I think Warren takes all the wind out Sanders' sails.

Moderate field

Patrick, Castro, Biden, Gillibrand, Booker

----

Oddlly enough, I think the progressives dump Bernie. It seems to me that Steyer is really making some strong moves right now. I think he runs, and he's precisely the kind of candidate that can do well in an Iowa caucus. The big question for a white progressive candidate is this...can you actually win the votes of African American and Hispanic voters, who sometimes back more moderate candidates or the one seen as more electable? If Kamela Harris gets out of Iowa and New Hampshire intact, she'd be formidable going forward.

The moderates are an interesting bunch. I'm thinking that Booker or Gillibrand are the more likely ones to move forward.

For whatever reason, O'Malley isn't going to get much traction. In order to beat Trump you have to be more alpha than he is. He's a very nice man, but he's not going to be the Democratic nominee for President in 2020.
