Trevon decided to engage in risky, illegal behaviors, and as a consequence - his actions led to him getting shot and losing his life.

We really should be focusing less on the woman whose house was robbed and more on the poor decisions that Trevon made........ Trevon's actions are what got him killed - not the woman protecting her property and given that there was a "confrontation" - possibly her life.
The quote about "how is Trevon supposed to get money for school clothes, etc." is just so, so wrong on so many levels.
I agree with your post. I think it's beyond cruel however to make fun of the family or be glad that this kid got killed.
I'm glad that the woman was not hurt but it's sad that this kid is dead that she will have to live with the fact that she killed him. That's going to effect her the rest of her life.

Ok it's not a celebration. How about don't seem so happy that he's dead? I think that is the only point being made here.
Say what you want, but "Bwahahaha he got what he deserved " just doesn't seem like an appropriate response to a 17 year old getting killed in the middle of a petty burglary. Doesn't mean the kid wasnt at fault, but everything doesn't have to be so black and white. You can think the kid made a bad choice without being so happy he's dead.
How do you know it was a petty crime? Maybe the kid knew they kept cash in the house or had expensive things to take. Maybe he was intent on rape or murder?
I also think it is possible had the woman let him go that he might've come back to hurt her or take her out since she saw his face and could ID him. He is likely bigger and stronger than the woman who shot him so a gun was her only self-defense.
It's sad that he chose to commit a crime.
It is sad that he paid for his bad decision with his life.
It is not sad that the woman protected herself and her family.
Since you quoted my post, just want to make it clear that I'm not saying anything about the woman's right to defend herself. When you rob a house, you risk getting shot. Unfortunately it did not end well for this young man.
I actually agree with your post for the most part though. My point is, you can think the woman was in the right and also think it's gross to see people celebrating a 17 year olds death. The two are not mutually exclusive, despite what many of these posters think.
I only included your post because you said it was a petty burglary and based on the story we do not know it was a petty crime. We have no idea the value of what he took if he took anything.

Miami-Dade police said there was a confrontation and shots were fired. Police said they were on scene seconds after the shooting and gave CPR to the teen. Johnson was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
We don't know if He charged back at Her when She fired. That is Self Defense
If he charged her?....He got what he deserved.

I know. I wasn't talking about you specifically. I was talking about others who have no sympathy for the two lives that were forever effected.

To me, at this point it is kind of telling that she hasn't been charged or detained or anything. One would think that if the police thought a charge was warranted, they wouldn't have just let her walk scott free? May be I'm wrong - who knows for sure.
One thing I do know for certain - Trevon doesn't need school clothes money now...........

You really think people can sleep at night after killing another human being? Or maybe that's it. You don't think this guy is human?

Probably not Feet, but it won't be because of a guilty conscious it'll be a sort of PTSD. Soldiers aren't the only ones who catch it.

Exactly. If you kill someone and sleep well after, then you don't have a soul.

That is a triggerable assertion. Do they offer classes at UTSA on how to be a triggering, patriarchal shotlord? You've been warned.
