Ok it's not a celebration. How about don't seem so happy that he's dead? I think that is the only point being made here.

Say what you want, but "Bwahahaha he got what he deserved " just doesn't seem like an appropriate response to a 17 year old getting killed in the middle of a petty burglary. Doesn't mean the kid wasnt at fault, but everything doesn't have to be so black and white. You can think the kid made a bad choice without being so happy he's dead.

Tell the lady that shot him that it was just a petty burglary, like I said, I have no remorse for somebody that breaks the law and gets killed. Wanna tell me how I should drink my coffee too?

'they' will never understand.....'they' only wonder why as the pebbles fall out of 'their' bottom....

what line does that fall under? lol

On the contrary. Everything in this forum IS Black and White. If people are celebrating, it's probably because the person was Black.

The homeowner or the burglar?

Race has nothing to do with it. There are plenty of strong 2nd amendment and self-defense supporters here, and that's where the sentiment lies. I've seen posters "celebrate" (for lack of a better word) stories of pasty white criminals who got snuffed out as well.

The sister of the teen who died identified him as Trevon Johnson. She said he was a student at D. A. Dorsey Technical College.

“I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law… way beyond,” said Johnson’s cousin Nautika Harris. “He was not supposed to die like this. He had a future ahead of him. Trevon had goals… he was a funny guy, very big on education, loved learning.”

Quote:“What’s wrong with her,” asked Johnson’s sister Nisha Johnson. “She did not have to shoot him.”

“It’s no reason she should have waited until I think he walked out the yard to try to shoot him,” said Harris. “If she called the police already why would she shoot him?”

Relatives said they don’t believe Johnson stole anything from the home but detectives would not confirm that.

“You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”

Really? You think it's unbelievable that family members would act irrationally at the death of their loved one?

I suppose if it happened to you, you'd give a press conference and explain that your child deserved to be killed because they were doing something wrong. All with a straight face of course.

First, I don't have to worry about either of my kids getting killed breaking into houses because they were raised in a home with discipline, rules, religion, values and responsibility. When my oldest was six he took a pack of chewing gum from a convenience store. When we found out on the way home I turned around, made him take it back and tell the clerk what he did, then made him sweep the store as the first part of his punishment.

Second, my kids were made aware at an early age what the result would be if they got in trouble with the law. They knew that it wouldn't do any good to call me because I would not bail them out, and I would not pay for their defense. If they put themselves in a situation where they could be arrested they were on their own. They knew that they were probably better off staying in jail because the punishment they were going to receive when they got home was going to be pretty severe on it's own.

So no, I doubt I would be like the woman interviewed in the linked story. Perhaps if she had been a little more like me she wouldn't be famous and the punch line of jokes today.

Here we go again. One thought fit strikes again.

If this was Cletus White in Toadlick Kentucky and his sister Mary Jo had made the same interview you would see the exact same thing you are seeing in this thread.

Well, except you wouldn't post in it because it wouldn't "fit" your racist narrative.

It must suck to be you. You hate racists so much yet you have to see one every time you look in the mirror.

Nah man, not trying to tell you how to do anything. Your stance is that anyone 17 and over who is killed while committing a crime not only deserved to die but to be laughed at afterwards. Got it.

Every person in this thread has either driven drunk before, or had a close friend/relative drive drunk before. Every one of those people deserved to die, and have their lives and families mocked afterward. 10-4.

I'm glad that your children have never committed a crime. I hope that they never do. I think however that it is rather callous of you to pass judgement on how someone should react immediately after the death of their child even if he was committing a crime.

RE: Un-freaking-real.
Here is the bottom line: Trevon decided the thing to do was to break into this woman's house. She came home and caught him as he was exiting the window. "Miami-Dade police said there was a confrontation and shots were fired. "

At this point, we don't know the particulars of the confrontation - but the woman has been questioned, and at this point, NO CHARGES against her.

Trevon decided to engage in risky, illegal behaviors, and as a consequence - his actions led to him getting shot and losing his life.

Trevon gambled and lost.

We really should be focusing less on the woman whose house was robbed and more on the poor decisions that Trevon made........ Trevon's actions are what got him killed - not the woman protecting her property and given that there was a "confrontation" - possibly her life.

The quote about "how is Trevon supposed to get money for school clothes, etc." is just so, so wrong on so many levels.

How do you know it was a petty crime? Maybe the kid knew they kept cash in the house or had expensive things to take. Maybe he was intent on rape or murder?

I also think it is possible had the woman let him go that he might've come back to hurt her or take her out since she saw his face and could ID him. He is likely bigger and stronger than the woman who shot him so a gun was her only self-defense.

It's sad that he chose to commit a crime.
It is sad that he paid for his bad decision with his life.
It is not sad that the woman protected herself and her family.

The explanation that the kid needed to rob to get clothes for school is absolutely laughable as some kind of justification for his crime. I don't care if you are grieving or upset. What kind of mind-set is that?

Because the media doesn't talk about crimes against white people. The only time these things make the news is if, (1) it is white on black or minority, (2) a legal gun owner shoots someone, or (3) a black person is shot by a cop. The shooter doesn't even have to be committing a crime...

Quote:Johnson’s family, like that of so many criminals in recent memory, want to flip the social order upside down and insist that the criminal was the real victim in this scenario, not the homeowner he was trying to steal from, Gwendolyn Jenrette.

While it wasn’t a very intelligent move from the tactical perspective for Jenrette to check out the burglar alarm on her own before police arrived, it seems likely that she was acting within the law when she arrived and encountered Johnson. If Trevon Johnson moved aggressively towards a woman 40 years his senior she would seem to be easily justified in shooting him. As it appears that his death came from a single gunshot wound to the chest, and not a shot from behind suggesting that he was fleeing, the odds of Jenrette facing any sort of criminal charges are slim. Florida’s would also seem to prevent Johnson’s family from filing a civil case against Jenrette over his death.

For our civil society to remain intact, we must resist attempts by opportunistic politicians and activist groups to insist that criminals be treated as the most important members of society, instead of the drain on civil culture that they clearly are and have been. If we allow criminals to assume that their lives matter more than that of law-abiding, contributing members of society, then our entire culture and way of life if at risk.

Criminals are not good people, and not members of our society that deserve special attention or protection.

I also think I read somewhere that this is the 2nd time he has broken into this house. The woman has cameras and an alarm system because of all of the previous break-ins she has dealt with. He apparently didn't case the joint and without regard as to whether a person was in their home, he kicked in the door.

I am not speaking to the law here...as the forensics will either show this was a good shoot under the law or otherwise. But, I wonder if anyone here is thinking about what it is like to be watching tv at home when someone is kicking in your door. That's what could have happened because Travon didn't check before he kicked. I wonder how many people know what it's like to have your place robbed every few months...by people in your neighborhood...and not being able to replace the stolen stuff. I'm not sure about whether the shooting was justifiable, but I do know that this kid had no understanding of morality and didn't think about how his actions could hurt his fellow "man". And, that's usually a problem where parents have the blame.

Nah man, not trying to tell you how to do anything. Your stance is that anyone 17 and over who is killed while committing a crime not only deserved to die but to be laughed at afterwards. Got it.

Every person in this thread has either driven drunk before, or had a close friend/relative drive drunk before. Every one of those people deserved to die, and have their lives and families mocked afterward. 10-4.

I had friends get killed while they were on drugs and driving at the same type. They got decapitated when they ran a red light and and their car went under an 18 wheeler. Do I feel sorry for them? Not one bit. They played stupid games and won stupid prizes. Do I feel sorry for family members that are in jail? Hell the **** no. I didnt tell them to commit those crimes. They knew better, but hey, maybe you should go to this criminal's funeral. 07-coffee3

Since you quoted my post, just want to make it clear that I'm not saying anything about the woman's right to defend herself. When you rob a house, you risk getting shot. Unfortunately it did not end well for this young man.

I actually agree with your post for the most part though. My point is, you can think the woman was in the right and also think it's gross to see people celebrating a 17 year olds death. The two are not mutually exclusive, despite what many of these posters think.
