"The area around this property is, in my opinion and experience, SAFE. I enjoy taking walks both in the early morning and late at night, and I did so every day throughout my stay, and I never felt suspicious or unsafe. I spoke to a number of locals (specifically, staff and security at the Crew Stadium) and the consensus was that this side of I 71 is safe and the other side is the area where, mostly because of economic reasons, there is an above normal crime rate, and as a result, that area is referred to as "The Hood". Also, as there is a police academy in the vicinity, there is abundant police presence."

I value experience and facts over conjecture. 03-razz

Sounds like it was written by the hotel staff.

The police academy in the vicinity is the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. It clears out on Friday afternoons as the cadre and the cadets head home for the weekend. OSP does not respond to calls on Clara St. They'll forward the calls to the Columbus Police Department. Late at night, you'll see the helicopter hovering around the hotel with the spotlight on.

My experience (having worked at the Ohio State Fair for the last 20+years and having worked 4-6 shows on the fairgrounds over the same period) is there is a reason we never put our officials up at the two hotels on Clara St.

I would never walk to a Crew game based upon the neighborhood surrounding the stadium. I grew up in Columbus and have family still living there. If you plan to stay there - You are a braver man than I am.

Sweet! This ought to be an interesting stay. It was nice knowing everyone. lol

There's always the Shady Lane Motel in Columbus. If I go down there for the WMU game, that'd be on my radar...

That is a new development outside of downtown Columbus. Not many bars around you, but you have two within a walking distance. The Buckeye Hall of Fame Grill, and my personal favorite Hofbrauhaus Columbus.
