Is anyone going to this game and if so where are you staying?

Thanks in advance...
We are in the Comfort Suites on Clara St. I booked it forever ago so don't remember too many details but it's fairly close to campus and High St. which is where the bars are I believe. Man... time to dust off the details for that trip. About a month to go.

if you want a place to eat go to Germantown to Schmidt's Sausage Haus

Days Inn Columbus Fairground on Clara St.
Fairfield inn. About 1 and a half miles from t[/b]he stadium.
I know some are staying at the Red Roof Inn in Columbus, but for a Friday and Saturday night stay it was about $440.

The Wiseabago will be at a local RV park...

MOVE YOUR HOTEL IMMEDIATELY!!!!

If you like to hear gunshots throughout the night, want to take a chance on getting beat up as you walk over to the McDonald's for breakfast - great hotel. Otherwise, find someplace else. Seriously, I'd even tell the TSUN fans not to stay there.

Hotels off State Route 161 and Morse Road from I-71 would not be advisable.

Look at Hilliard and Dublin (west side of Columbus) and you can feel safe. Not too far from OSU.

And Schmidt's Sausage Haus is in German Village (just south of downtown). Home of the world famous Bahama Mama! They have a great buffet. If you can go down on Friday or Saturday night, they have live music. Parking is not so great, but its definitely worth it. And make sure you get one of the cream puffs for dessert (I prefer the German Chocolate Cake myself).

Also, if you're looking for an easy on- and -off the campus, take a look at parking at Graceland Shopping Center (on High Street). COTA (bus system) runs a shuttle on games days down to campus for $2 (if I recall the price correctly). Drops off at Lane and High St. Easy walk to the stadium from the drop-off point. No hassle with the traffic.

If you're staying on Olentangy River Rd., you could walk down to the stadium. Check with the hotel front desk, but you're less than two miles to the stadium (if you are south of EN Broadway). Huskie Red and Rabid Squirrel - nice choices.
Why bother with a room? Join the OSU fans passed out on the street.

Find a new hotel or your vehicle and you might not be there in the morning.

Sounds like tOSU is in a great neighborhood! The miscreants were probably top tOSU students!

For our last game there, I stayed at the team hotel, which was walking distance from the stadium. (I thought it was a Holiday Inn, but I may be wrong.) I didn't see anything too bad. The only scum we saw were the tOSU fans.

No.... Clara street is in the hood. Those hotels guys are staying at are notorious drug and human trafficking hotels. It's like staying in the hood of Chicago.
Varsity Inn South. Not the greatest, but a short distance to stadium, cab ride to campus. I think it's sold out.

Really Nice Spring Hill Suites next door

Just over a mile south. Can walk, and there is game day parking near it.

I did a little research about the area before I booked and didn't hear anything bad. I just looked again to see if I could find the same info and I didn't but did find this...

"The area around this property is, in my opinion and experience, SAFE. I enjoy taking walks both in the early morning and late at night, and I did so every day throughout my stay, and I never felt suspicious or unsafe. I spoke to a number of locals (specifically, staff and security at the Crew Stadium) and the consensus was that this side of I 71 is safe and the other side is the area where, mostly because of economic reasons, there is an above normal crime rate, and as a result, that area is referred to as "The Hood". Also, as there is a police academy in the vicinity, there is abundant police presence."

Sounds like it was written by the hotel staff.

The police academy in the vicinity is the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. It clears out on Friday afternoons as the cadre and the cadets head home for the weekend. OSP does not respond to calls on Clara St. They'll forward the calls to the Columbus Police Department. Late at night, you'll see the helicopter hovering around the hotel with the spotlight on.

My experience (having worked at the Ohio State Fair for the last 20+years and having worked 4-6 shows on the fairgrounds over the same period) is there is a reason we never put our officials up at the two hotels on Clara St.

I would never walk to a Crew game based upon the neighborhood surrounding the stadium. I grew up in Columbus and have family still living there. If you plan to stay there - You are a braver man than I am.

I live in Columbus and work in local news. I know what I'm talking about. If you want to believe what a hotel worker posted on Trip Advisor be my guess, but when you hear the gun shots..... Enjoy the hood of Columbus.

That's actually a good part of town. The hotel might not be the greatest but there are a bunch of bars within walking and short driving distance in Grandview.
