RE: EZF Construction Thread
Been looking at the webcam here and there. What I thought was an image of an owl on the front windows of the main building on the left seems more like a reflection of the black tarps. Still weird how I can see the owls' eyes and head similar to the Rice secondary logo when the sun is at the right angle.

The brickwork has proceeded around the building and scaffolding has been set up on the left side to finish the front part of the bricking in. Looks like a nice day in Houston today.

And if you want to see some renderings of what the inside will look like when finished, here's a nice gallery for you:

Yes, I was impressed. It looks big-time. They did a nice job on it. I'm more sure it will help some after seeing these renderings vs what we have to show recruits now.

Nice alternate perspective and to get a better idea of how the scale of the building fits in relation to the older stadium structure. Thanks for posting this picture. Keep 'em coming when you can as it gets more finished.

It looks amazing. Hopefully the finished product matched those renderings. I'm sure the coaches will be thrilled to actually show off our facilities, rather than be worried about a recruit showing up out of the blue.

Yesterday it looked like they were almost completely done with the bricks on the back of the building. Looks like there is a giant glass outlook onto the practice field. The side with the tennis court is up next. Bricks were already there.

I noticed that, too.
We need to get PTH to explain that in detail to Dr K and the powers that be.

Very, very nice. It'll definitely help the program. It looks like a first class facility. Let's go Rice!

Every school I've been affiliated with has had blue as a primary color, and I wear more blue than anything else... but man, that's a LOT of blue. I hope that doesn't wear on people after a while.

This looks fantastic. I wish someone could share pictures of the current facility, just so those of us out of the loop could see if it's as bad as people say.

Meh, the former is a compelling request which, if followed, ensures the latter statement remains valid.

The locker room is the place for compelling requests.

I don't have any pictures. I can tell you from experience of walking through the coaching offices and locker rooms, they are not very nice. Very old and dated.

If I were looking to play at a D-1 program, I would not be impressed. The new facility will get players much more excited to come play for our program.

Does it go beyond optics? I believe someone said the showers barely work and there are leaks in the roof or some such?

Various complaints I've heard: no working hot water, mold, everything is old, parents had to buy the cleat dryer because there wasn't one.

A player posted something about all of this 3 or 4 years back but I can't remember who and probably won't find it.
