Yes. Please. I've never seen it either

I don't have any pictures. I can tell you from experience of walking through the coaching offices and locker rooms, they are not very nice. Very old and dated.

If I were looking to play at a D-1 program, I would not be impressed. The new facility will get players much more excited to come play for our program.

Does it go beyond optics? I believe someone said the showers barely work and there are leaks in the roof or some such?

Various complaints I've heard: no working hot water, mold, everything is old, parents had to buy the cleat dryer because there wasn't one.

A player posted something about all of this 3 or 4 years back but I can't remember who and probably won't find it.

Searching for "mold", I found this from Antarius in June, 11, 2013:

The whole structure reeks of mildew/mold/age. At least it did the last time I was in there.

They're working now on bricking in the little building to the right.

They're moving fast, just about done to the top with the brickwork.

I understand that the building is to be ready for this upcoming season, but will will be available for occupancy for practices in August, or will there be a move from old to new during the beginning of the season?

I've been told that The MOB will start next season in the current gym band hall before moving to the newly-vacated space at Rice Stadium about halfway through the season, so I'd guess that the team will still be in the old locker rooms through at least two a days.

Just enough mold to dampen the sound echoes. Cultivating the perfect band hall is like creating a fine wine.

But at least it can serve as a bunker for the next time we play the Aggies at HRS.

Most bunkers don't have an exterior entirely made of glass.
The stadium gates back then were made of corrugated metal, and the angry, noisy mob outside couldn't see the perplexed, quiet MOB inside.

Not that I think the Aggies will ever consent to playing in our tiny stadium again...

Nice alternate perspective and to get a better idea of how the scale of the building fits in relation to the older stadium structure. Thanks for posting this picture. Keep 'em coming when you can as it gets more finished.

Does anyone know if fans will be forced to enter from the south end of the stadium from now on? Will the north end gates be closed? I can't tell from the photos.

North gate on Eastside is still there. Westside is behind barrier and couldn't see if it was still there.

A crane is moving a large metal box onto the "left" side brick part of the building. Probably HVAC or an exhaust fan for the locker rooms.
There is already a similar box on the "right" side.

And now the crane is lifting an HVAC air handler unit to the "right" side of the building.

If there's one think I didn't miss about the student weight room in Autry, it was lack of air conditioning (and the racquetball courts as well). I think this will start as a very nice building, certainly more impressive for our recruits to enter, and a nicer home for our players.

Wonder when the video board will be installed? Hope they leave plenty of time available for testing, as that appears to have been a worry in the past from stories I've read on here before. Do we know which choice of company was made for the board and how big it will actually be?

Updates from the podcast this month: EZF opens August 1st. On schedule. On budget. Finishing the exterior right now. Advent Technologies is doing the graphics inside. JK thinks the outside is impressive but the interior will be even better.
