Given the out of control hard drug problem that plagues the whole country, I don't have a problem with this.

I do. In a sane place, no laws were broken. He was not transporting anything illegal. This is like thought crimes gone wild - he MIGHT have a hidden compartment to move illegal drugs or illegal firearms. MIGHT being the operative word. Not IS or DID.

The way things are going, all the new laws and regulations being added, soon people will be breaking laws without being aware of the laws themselves. Total control of the population. Can arrest somebody whenever they want and figure out the bogus charges later.

The drug war is being pushed to scary lengths and it is encroaching on law abiding citizens personal freedoms. As of right now if you buy a used car with a hidden compartment in OH or CA you will get a felony regardless of your intent or knowledge of its presence.
