I do think there is a feeling among most SBC fans that there is a core group of schools that if the SBC were to lose would be a problem with the quality of play in the SBC going forward. Right now none of those teams are considered prime candidates to move, and fans hope it stays that way.
I don’t think that there is any animosity whatsoever with UNT or FIU ( as long as FAU stays)leaving because this round of realignment has nothing to do with merit, and it has not been very difficult to find schools in comparable markets wanting to join the league.

ULM has done more against TROY than anyone in the SBC...they deserve respect.
They're also the only school in the conference without a winning season at the FBS level...just sayin.

Well you've only posted a winning record in conference one time which was your only conference championship and that was in a year you went 5-6 overall and the only year in conference history that we've had a three way tie.
You also have the least conference wins of any school aside from FAU/FIU(who you have a four year head start on as members) and WKU(who you have an eight year head start on as member).
I'm not saying you guys are far and away the worst conference member, but if we're pointing fingers you guys are bottom of the barrel, even if it isn't by a significant amount.

Coaching might play a part...but ULM's talent level is pretty bad.

I will say it...ULM is as bad as it gets in the Sun Belt...no question. If there ever was a team that should just give up...it's them. How can you be bad at...everything? I feel bad for them...until I come here and see their posters. The truth hurts.

Well, then maybe ULM should consider playing a different schedule. i.e. if you are getting your rear ends handed to you by the people you play, play someone else! It worked for Boise State while they built their program.
If you guys continue to play several body bag games a year, and loose them, how can you get the national media to give you any creedence when they won't look past the W/L columns?

Budgetary constraints make it pretty much impossible for them to change their approach.

That goes without saying, but the point I made about playing body bag games will continue to haunt the program. Having five FBS programs in the great State of Louisiana does not help at all with fund raising. (However, a law passing through out legislature may help programs that are not located in Red Stick.) LA Neck has its sugar daddy, we've engergized our local community and started a real athletic foundation, and Tulane, how in the hell do they even field a team?. The powers that be in the ULM program may want consider a way to raise an extra million $$ a year to emliminate one body bag game a year and hopefully find a team they can get a win from. They were very successful bringing in Grambling last year, which ULM won, and had a tidy little take from the gate also. Honestly, I believe they would do better having Grambling come back to Monroe rather than Baylor. They will pay more for Baylor and have a harder time beating them. Grambling gives more of a chance of winning and a bigger gate. Then the national media sees another W in the win column. Recruits and fans see another W also.
All these body bag games do nothing to energize the fan/donantion base and I am sure it demoralizes the players. Hence a continual downward spiral until there is nothing left.

It's a precarious position they're in. If they stop scheduling the body bag games they won't be able to afford to stay at the FBS level, so all they can do is continue to schedule them and hope they catch fire at some point with the right coach or have a once in a generation type player come along. That has to be the plan in Monroe, just survive and hope that at some point the right player and/or coach will light a fire there.

Well it can happen......the Sun Belt did have two new coaches this past season who lit fires no one other than the true faithful knew existed. And, there is a third one on the rise. Just took him an extra year.
