We do, so any discussion about whether the MWC is interested in UTEP or not is moot because UTEP is not interested in the MWC. UTEP could go west if necessity forced it(such as when the Border conference dissolved and we couldn't get into the SWC) but frankly we prefer to look east because we see ourselves as a Texas school. The MWC does not offer anything UTEP wants and does not already have. CUSA on the other hand offers plenty of things that we like. The only way UTEP ever moves west again is if the Pac-10 comes calling. The Pac-10 is the only western league that UTEP would listen to.
Total Hogwash! The admin. at UTEP would probably pee on themselves if they even thought they had a shot at getting into the MWC. No need to buy them any "Depends" at this point though because I personally don't think UTEP will ever get the invite. From TCU's perspective I would love to see UTEP in our conference but the Miners' woeful record against the other MWC schools speaks for itself. Schools like BYU and Utah want competition to elevate their programs. Cupcakes can be scheduled for ooc play!

Why would the adms at UTEP be peeing to join the MWC? You would have a point if we were still in the WAC but its not the case anymore. At this point, a move to the MWC is seen as a lateral move. Unless the MWC gets the BCS autobid or you increase your TV revenue to split the pie in 10 or 12 ways.....it doesnt makes any sense for UTEP to switch conferences now. If UTEP wants to play MWC and WAC teams....it can be done in OOC play.
As for football, its not your fathers UTEP anymore. We have a high profile coach (and he is not going anywhere, he just conviced his daughter and son in law to move to El Paso from Seattle this summer. You dont do that if youre thinking in leaving the city ASAP), a great stadium, fan support, the stadium was remodeled recently, a state of the art training center, etc., etc. BTW, if we are using your logic, then TCU should have never been invited to the MWC. Your WAC16 record speaks for itself. As for BYU and Utah wanting better competition to elevate their programs then they should get rid of UNLV and SDSU and invite Fresno and Boise.

Hey Frog, how'd your game with SMU turn out last year?
For cupcakes, try UNLV, Air Force, and Wyoming. Yum.

Hey Owlet! How did any of your games turn out last year? When was the last time Rice won 11 games? As a matter of fact, when was the last time Rice even went to a bowl? Before you were born probably! You and your CUSA cohorts are still sore because we told you to get lost and joined a better conference. Now run along and play Central Western Florida A&M and whoever else is left in CUSA!

Sounds to me like MWC is peeing on themselves to get UTEP. Once TCU realizes that they are the only top non-BCS team in the conference, they could decide to go to a more regional conference (CUSA, who would welcome them back). If that happens, MWC goes scrambling for Boise and Fresno, but without TCU, the invite isn't as enticing.

That's what gets me about all of this MWC expansion talk. MWC schools are peeing all over themselves when they talk about WAC and C-USA schools, because they know that they don't have what it takes to improve on their own, so they have to raid other conferences. It's like a cycle. They raid, the gang of five calls a Denver Airport meeting, they break away with all of the benefits and leave a mess behind, they raid, the gang of five calls a Denver Airport meeting, they break away with all of the benefits and leave a mess behind, they raid, ......
And it goes on and on and on. When will WAC schools get a clue?

Personally, I prefer the WAC and I would rather see SJSU, NMSU, Idaho, and USU improve to bring the bottom of the WAC up...that's where we're lacking. It's really sort of funny that the MWC can point to the worst teams in each league and say "our sucky teams suck less than your sucky teams". That's really the difference.
There are a couple more differences. We've finished in the top 10 two years in a row. 82 million is different than 6 million. Having our own t.v. network is different. That BCS appearance isn't quite the same. None of our teams would leave the MWC to join the Wac. Our records against BCS opponents is much better. Attendance in the MWC is slightly different. The size of our budgets is just a bit different.....
I could go on, but I think I made my point.

Interesting.. on your own board "Latter Daze" and others are of the opinion that the MWC should dump Wyoming. Personally, I like Wyoming, but if your own school does not have support from your own conference, that definitely sends a message....

actually, you can just stop the sentence after "themselves". you MWC folks are delusional about your conference (you should have started by picking a better name). the entire of the east coast media ROUTINELY (and admittedly incorrectly) refers to teams in the MWC as being in the WAC. ok, insert your 'well, the east coast doesn't understand college football' comment here (tell it to penn state and boston college). so be it, but in the east fresno state and boise state are as recognizable as wyoming and colorado state. BYU and AFA are well known, but utah and tcu are afterthoughts despite flirting with the BCS. face it, you're just like the rest of the non-bcs conferences: a few areas of success, but not on BCS conference's shopping list for expansion.
