He's been effectively retired and out of sight for years due to old age and bad health. There is no clear successor in the wings. If he leaves the regime falls completely or there will be a secular military junta.

Not Iran related, but definitely region related, but could impact Iran. The Kurds and Syraian Army have begun trading bullets. Heavy fighting between the two broke out earlier.

Update. There currently are major uprisings in numerous cities across Iran, going on 9 days now, and the regime has killed approximately 20 protesters, including 3 children, against Trump's warning.

The Ayatollah is planning to leave for Moscow IF his security guard can't hold back the protesters to where he feels threatened.

Actually, it was WW3.

I think we have been in WW3 for a while, it's not fought traditionally though.

If the U.S. is going to do anything to tip the scales towards the protesters - it's now. Granted, I think they are already working deep undercover to get it this far.
