https://military-history.fandom.com/wiki/Suez_Rajan

"The Marshall Islands-flagged Suez Rajan, carrying Iranian-grade crude oil,[1] was seized in April 2023 by the US Department of Justice.[2] The Suez Rajan was carrying about 800,000 barrels of oil, a cargo worth about $56 million.[3] The US justification for the seizure was violation of US sanctions on Iran's oil exports, and the US said the Suez Rajan scheme "attempted to disguise the origin of the oil using ship-to-ship transfers". Suez Rajan Ltd., the owner of the ship, pleaded guilty and was fined $2.5 million. The US claimed ownership of the confiscated oil.[4] As the original payment to Iran for the Iranian oil was done using US dollar transaction wire transfers, without a license issued by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury, the US could claim jurisdiction under US law.[5]"

Funny, never said sanction enforcement actions werent enforceable. Calling into question the use of the military in extraterritorial aspects. Might want to retool your pithy off the subject answer to one more on point.

First off---its flying under a false flag. A nation can intercept, detain, investigate, and seize a ship flying a false flag treating it as a stateless vessel outside of normal protections----especially if its involved in sanctions violations or other illegal activities. Furthermore, what difference does it make what branch of US government intercepts it? Its outside of US waters on the high seas---and it was unknown if the crew would resist. Maybe it just came down to the the US Navy represented the closest force that that could make a show of force sufficient enough to minimize the likelihood of crew resistance....or maybe the ship foolishly entered into an area of denial zone around the current Navy operations off the coast of Venezuela. Im not sure why it matters what branch of the US seizes the ship when its outside of US waters.

Anything to argue. Problem is Leftists can't scream to end a discussion in which they are flailing like they can in person.

You actually started: "Hey Tanq, Sen. Sheehy of Montana just gave you a shout-out."

I guess you cannot (do not, or will not) look at what you typed. Cool cool.

Quote:All that other blah blah is just you making up stuff. And dodging any points anybody else makes. As usual.

Im not the person that seemingly cannot distinguish between 'questioning' an issue and 'opposing' something. Funny that.

All I said was that I guess questioning the basis makes me a 'disgusting' person. Since you prefaced it with "Hey Tanq, Sen. Sheehy of Montana just gave you a shout-out."

Might want to try some remedial English practice sessions. Or simply make more garbage up that 'all you did was repeat Sheehy's comments.' Brazenly brain dead to say that, hoss. Even for you.

Wrong again (really no need to specify with any of your dumb*** assertions) Venezuela has let its refining capacity go to **** since it’s not spent real money up keeping including this fire just last month. They are an importer of fuel and refined oil products

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/...025-11-20/
Nah.... yes their refining capacity is less than 30% or so but they still refine more in country.

Nice try though

Venezuela refines more oil than it imports, based on the latest available data for 2024 and early 2025. This holds despite the country's chronic refining challenges (e.g., underutilization, breakdowns, and reliance on imported diluents to process its heavy crude). Below, I'll break it down with key figures, trends, and context.Key Figures (Averages for 2024–Early 2025)Domestic Refining Throughput: ~200,000–400,000 barrels per day (bpd). 2023: 137,000 bpd (down ~80% from 2014 peaks due to outages).
2024 estimates: ~300,000–400,000 bpd, with partial restarts aided by Iranian technicians and parts, though still at ~20–30% of 1.3–1.46 million bpd nameplate capacity.
Early 2025: Similar levels, hovering around 300,000 bpd amid power issues and limited diluents.

Oil Imports: ~100,000–150,000 bpd (mostly light crude, naphtha diluents, and fuels).2024: ~92,000 bpd (up from 60,000 bpd in 2023; primarily swaps with partners like Chevron for diluents to blend heavy Orinoco crude).
November 2025: ~167,000 bpd (doubled from October due to increased naphtha from Russia and the U.S. to offset upgrader fires).
Annual 2025 trend: ~120,000 bpd average, focused on inputs for refining/export rather than finished products.

Comparison: Refining throughput exceeds imports by ~100,000–200,000 bpd on average. For context, Venezuela's crude production is ~900,000–950,000 bpd, with ~55–60% going to domestic refineries (yielding gasoline, diesel, etc., for local use and limited exports) and the rest exported as crude. Why This Imbalance?Refining Purpose: Most refined output (300,000+ bpd) addresses domestic shortages (e.g., gasoline/diesel), with imports mainly serving as "feedstock" to enable that process. Without imported diluents (100,000+ bpd of the total imports), heavy crude couldn't flow through pipelines or be upgraded efficiently.
Challenges: Refineries like Paraguaná (world's largest complex) run at low capacity due to sanctions, corruption, and maintenance issues, forcing imports. However, throughput still outpaces imports.
Exports Context: Crude exports (~700,000–900,000 bpd) dwarf both, but that's unrefined output—not relevant to refining vs. importing.

First off---its flying under a false flag. A nation can intercept, detain, investigate, and seize a ship flying a false flag treating it as a stateless vessel outside of normal protections----especially if its involved in sanctions violations or other illegal activities.

Funny, thats not the legal rationale set out by our government. Care to attempt an answer that follows the stated rationale?

Bondi’s claim that the Skipper was seized in accordance with domestically imposed sanctions has no standing in international law. Zero.

And a boarding under the Unclos provisions you allude to above for stateless vessels only contain provisions for allowing boarding to inspect. The provisions do not allow for arrest, seizure, or prosecution beyond an initial inspection.

Quote:Furthermore, what difference does it make what branch of US government intercepts it? Its outside of US waters on the high seas---and it was unknown if the crew would resist. Under various treaties relating to specific law enforcement powers, the Coast Guard is under a much stronger position legally when seizing vessels in international waters. And, there seems to be a decent amount of confusion about whether the ship was in international waters or not.

Thats a little over 80% exported vast majority of which isn’t refined.

Exports Context: Crude exports (~700,000–900,000 bpd) dwarf both, but that's unrefined output—not relevant to refining vs. importing.

lol you're wrong again. thanks for giving me the peace of mind that Grok is not going to suddenly make stupid people critical thinkers.
Prove the numbers wrong...

I dont think you understand how AI works, most retards dont.

Sent 765k bpd to China most unprocessed and at a discount to Brent crude (unprocessed price) another 150k bpd to US all unrefined to be refined in the gulf.

Thats a little over 80% exported vast majority of which isn’t refined.

Just stick to what you know- cult worship and Elon ****riding. I’ll always take your word if it’s dealing with either one of those
You dont even know what youre arguing retard.

Reading comprehension is your friend.

Try again...

Yes, but there's usually a reason for it. Here, it just makes him look like the moron he is. He's so damn dishonest.

But yeah, whenever you corner them, they pull out a flashy coin and say, "Look here!" lol

Rath makes a good comparison. You may not like his opinion, but he usually gives a legit reason for it.

I know this is pretty much wasted effort given your very limited capacity, but you should probably look up who is currently refining the bulk of Venezuelan sour
Ummm Venezuela dope

You have the grasp of donny in a cabinet meeting. I’ll give you credit at least you’re not the dumbest maga here, you realized you took up a failing position and are now pivoting to reframe the argument as something else.

Keep us up to date on elons latest bm or what your cult is up to though you’re good for that.

I have a serious question about the sky screamer girl. Do you think she screamed at the sky again when Trump was sworn back in back in January? I bet ya she probably did.
