My father persevered, and was kicked out at 18 for being late back to curfew. Went to the Newport News shipyard and got a shipyard job and paid his way. Later joined the Air Force and got electrician training.

We grew up one generation from white trash. And my parents were God-Fearing and appreciative, As the youngest of three kids, they were so worn out that I had it easy. Made great grades, no legal issues, etc.

So when I see illegal CRIMINALs in LA, and the media attempts to make them look like saints, I feel absolute disgust. The American Dream is still viable. I am living proof. But to access it, one must love this country, not be afraid of very hard work, stay married even if it sucks, and have a pan other than receiving government benefits.

I have shared too much, and maybe not enough. To grow up in this country is a privilege, not a right. I loathe, with every fibre of my being, the crimes committed by those breaking border laws to get free benefits at my taxpayer expense. Screw these fools and deport those that have shown no ability to support themselves, crimes or not.

Be a contributing American or be a foreigner. I have no sympathy for those that cannot or will not come here and support their residence here.

^^^ Andy, read this post. It'll open your eyes to see how good you really have it. So sure, you're in the Army now but it's not a life long sentence. You'll be out soon and even in civilian life you'll realize that Army life isn't so bad. Furthermore, you'll find out civilian life is HARDER by a long stretch than being in the military.

Stop being such a pessimist and always look at the bright side. For instance, you and your family, I assume, have good health and if not, you have paid insurance in the Army. If you don't have good health you have nothing. Even if you're well set financially money won't help, you'll still have pain.

It's only an update that there is STILL no timeline of when they will be done training and/or when they will be deployed...much less what in the actual **** they're going to do and how they're going to coordinate with the NG, county sheriffs, and the LAPD.
