If your company is a technology company you will understand what computer code does and the type you will want the company to write, you don't know how to write any of it.

If your company is a construction company your CEO is going to know what kind of construction you want to do, but isn't going to know how to do it himself.

Trump is NOT the CEO. Trump is like President of the Company or Chairman of the Board. The cabinet positions are the CEOs. You have a funny idea how big business works.

No, I'm saying the CEO needs to understand how code works and have the correct people to write the code for the specific need of the company. If you don't know anything about it then you have a hard time hiring the right people below you to enact your plan and direction for the company.

Nope. Trump is the CEO. These are department heads in his corporation. You hire someone as your department head who understands that part of the business. They aren't going to hire someone who knows dick about transportation to head up that part of your business. Just like you wouldn't hire an engineer to be your finance guy.

A department head in the federal gov doesn't hire any tech people, either.

How many fed gov dept. heads have you ever worked with?

I don't think he's wrong in this case. I think appointees need to have some sort of experience in the field they're being assigned.

Or maybe I just have a different vision for what we need at the cabinet level. I'm tired of watching these large government agencies spin their wheels and not drive positive change and efficiencies. They usually go the other way as a matter of fact.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs at least had experience in the field that they're managing. Neither is a good example of what's happening here w/ Sean Duffy.

mlb is making valid points. And I tend to agree with him, but on the same point I would hope whomever is over it would hire those with experience and would venture out to places like Ohio when a train derails or actually has a thumb on the pulse of anything related to travel.

Trump should decide who he wants on his cabinet. Not any of us.

Fully agree. My questioning this pick is not saying that Mayor Pete was a good choice by Biden. I just want people who are capable to make things better.

That's never been the argument here. I agree, he should. That doesn't mean that he's making good choices. Republicans rightfully complained about the incompetent people Biden appointed, they should have the same concerns about some of these candiates Trump has picked.
