In this situation, GOP is doing the exact thing that we chastised them for. Not a great look. Have not been impressed with about 50% of these Cabinet nominees.

Like any other CEO. You hire/appoint people that do. Other than state governors, no POTUS ever had any experience in running a sno-ball stand, much less a country. It's about getting people in these positions that are going to be pro-active and inquisitive to find out where problems lie and have problem solving skills to improve things. Instead of going on maternity leave for three months or being in the hospital for a week and no one even miss them. Would you prefer a bus driver in the position?

Transportation is almost always a politician. But I'd take a House member over the mayor of a small city.

Btw, experience in a particular area is, IMO, not a prerequisite for a department head in the federal government.
Look at it this way. NOTHING the federal government does creates anything. It is all pure bureaucracy. Experience is a bad thing b/c then you're indoctrinated to the idea that the current way is a good way to do things.
Especially in an era where you're looking to eliminate the fat in a huge way.
