Being more qualified than Mayor Pete doesn't make him qualified.
As already stated above by MonarchManiac, two wrongs don't make a right. What are Duffy's qualifications? I want the most qualified person in the position.
Spend 5 minutes reading his biography. The guy is highly intelligent. A 5 term congressman. A great public speaker. When you run a big department like that, those are things you need. Others can do the details.
Do a little research and tell me the qualifications of the last 5 Secretaries of Transportation.
What would you consider important qualifications for this job?
Here's a hint. Running a construction business is as far from being Sec of Transportation as you can get. Or being a pilot.
Organizations within the DOT include the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the Federal Railroad Administration and the Maritime Administration.
Even if you ran one of those, you would know zero about the other 5.
And having worked with civil servants for 15 years, I would say having previously worked there should disqualify you, b/c you would be steeped in doing things the same old way.
That's another point. Trump is appointing disruptors, not administrators. The biggest job for now is to get the waste, fraud and abuse out of the system in each department.
