Where can you get that shirt? My brother is an alum, could be a good X-Mas gift.

may not be for sale anymore....it's old...it's from around 2009ish.......

I think that was the last year it was for sale, it's as old as 2005.

It matters because someone was paid a lot of money to design that... It stands to reason that the person/design firm that designed it should be the one getting paid, not the hack who stole it.

Maybe ethics and plagiarism wasn't covered at all universities? But it sure as hell would've been a big fat F at ECU's School of Art and an immediate expulsion from the university.

so coke and pepsi or 7up and sprite is plagiarism??? similar...yet different logos...

You will need to provide these "similar" logos. I know they change them on a regular basis, but the logos in my head are not similar... Again, if you don't see the difference in being inspired by a logo and copying the logo, then I can not help you. You could sign up and take an ethics course at ECU. Maybe they can explain it better than myself...

ECU actually was using the "This is our state" slogan even before Miss St back in 2010. Skip to the 1:10 mark.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjPKWKHG5kk

Here's an article from the NCSU student paper essentially bashing their own university for a lack of creativity.

http://www.technicianonline.com/opinion/...0f31a.html

What it really comes down to is that ECU actually has an art school and other programs that fosters creativity while NCSU (to be frank) is a bunch of farmers and technicians. Consequently, this sports marketing debacle at NC State is really just an extension of the entire institutions lack of imaginative vision.

You would think that they could pay someone enough money to come up with something uniquely original or at least they could artistically innovate an existing idea. Unfortunately, it seems that their leadership lacks any artistic appreciation and ostensibly they were actually convinced by whatever marketing firm they hired that these marketing strategies are novel to some degree. Which brings me back to my initial point that this marketing debacle is really just a microcosm of the extensive lack of creativity that apparently permeates throughout NCSU, all the way up to their leadership.

What's worse is NCSU actually has taken legal measures in the past against Nevada & Loyola New Orleans for having the same mascot as them. This is particularly egregious in reference to Loyola because that institution actually has been calling themselves the Wolfpack longer than NCSU has but State just trademarked it 1st. Why does NCSU even care what a division 3 school in NOLA with only 5,000 students and no football team calls itself? Particularly, since they've been calling themselves the Wolfpack longer than State has. State probably stole the idea from them and then they try to force Loyola to change from their original idea that State stole. That is hypocrisy and greed personified and it truly makes me sick.

http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/03/28/1...f-the.html

"Loyola, a century-old institution with just under 5,000 students, traces its self-identification as the Wolfpack back to the 1930s, while N.C. State's usage dates back to 1947...."

I knew State's athletic director is a lady that dropped out of ECU. Someone told me the other day that she was kicked out for plagiarism. At first I took it as a joke but the more I think about it the more it makes since.

I still can not believe that NC State hired her to run their Athletic Department after her performance at Maryland.

At least this has made State look really pathetic while at the same time giving ECU lots of free pub!

I am sure ECU was not the first school to have their logo in the state - in fact, I seem to remember that MT did it a long time ago with our logo, on the football field as well as basketball. Ages ago, but this type of thing isn't something you folks invented, sorry.

Obviously you did not take the time to read the posts on this topic….That point has been well established already and no ECU fan is trying to claim that we were the first to put our logo inside an outline of a state. This is about NC State basically copying our football field logo and many other marketing ideas from other Universities as well. You may be well served to actually read posts on a topic before commenting….Marshall has had one with their logo in the outline of WV for several years, maybe longer than ECU. ODU did it recently and clearly they used ours for inspiration as it is the exact same design principle, at least we can give NC State credit for not copying it to the degree that ODU did.

just the first school to do it right and create a bad a$$ logo worth copying...one that is recognized by football fans all over the country. I guess a major Land Grant University copying ours proves the quality and creativeness of our U's logo and one that was not copied and "seemed to be remembered" by a fan of MT speaks of the quality of that logo....

Never happening....who cares if some non-sports fan knows what state we are in (if someone can't figure it out with google we really don't want them to know where we are anyway) out of state and in state students find us just fine with UNCC we are by the far the two fastest growing Universities in NC both adding 12 to 14,000 students over the last decade and a half.
