Even the dumbest student in medical school is still called doctor. Was that the quote? Really, please extrapolate your reference in the context of discussing Jason Collins.
It started when you began dropping his HS and college numbers to define his awesome career... Two weeks ago nobody calls the guy a superstartyet that's the headline in many papers today.
My reply was intended to say "Yes the guy is a world class athlete and a successful basketball player" but he is no superstar. IOW Even the most pedestrian of NBA players has HS and college numbers that are amazing.
Quote:But at least you touch on the fact that the issue is really internal to yourself, in that you personally fear showering with Gay men (well at least those that you know are Gay).
I have no fear of gay men Tom, that dog don't hunt. And if you want to know why the "sexual assault" reference was brought up its *precisely* because you make that inference from anything I have said.
Quote:Bar Gays from sports because you think some Gay athlete is 'gonna put some moves on you in the locker room?'
I worded what I said very carefully. Nowhere did I say there was an attraction to me, nowhere did I imply I felt like a target... What I said was, and please read this twice if you don't understand;
It is uncomfortable to disrobe and shower in the same room with a person attracted to your gender. To me that includes straight women and gay men..
When you go right to "you think they want you" you show just how lazy and reactionary you are in these discussions..

Its not lazy. Its the truth. Lets recap.
You started off the discussion by comparing him to the dumbest doctor. You then used an analogy regarding sexual assault. You then brought up the stupid shower argument. You brought up sexual attraction as well.
The only way you could have fit the stereotype more exactly is if you had made the sexual assault reference about the rape of a child or had you tried to talk about polygamy or made some issue of transgendered persons using the bathroom of their choice. Or the always useful "my religion doesn't approve".
But there is still time for you to score a perfect 100. You've only got two more red herrings to include to make a perfect score!

False...
I started by saying he will be more knon for being gay than being a great basketball player... You then brought his friggen HS numbers into the conversation..

Can we not talk about sexual preference and just treat everyone with respect?
Good idea. Let's do that when gay people aren't discriminated against anymore.
[Forgive my pointedness and lack of censure] And to all the "being gay is a choice" folks out there... If you can't relate to "Did you choose to be sexually attracted to women?" then I don't know what to tell you. Tell me how I will be able to dictate to my body who I am physically attracted to. Tell me how I can become attracted to someone I am NOT ATTRACTED TO, not aroused by in any means, through my choice. Can't happen, I'm sorry. I would know.
Sexual preference is wherever you let your mind wander to. I had many phases where I have preferred Asians, black chicks, and even went through a phase where I liked fat chicks. If you were locked in a room with nothing but midget porn, you would eventually succumb to it. If you were repeatedly molested by your stepfather, your mind will take you to arousal by same sex acts, which is why the vast majority of those claiming to be homosexual were molested. It isn't a complete choice - nobody chose to be molested - but it is absolutely reversible.
completely false information...

Quote:The American Psychiatric Association noted in a 2000 fact sheet on gay, lesbian and bisexual issues that "no specific psychosocial or family dynamic cause for homosexuality has been identified, including histories of childhood sexual abuse." The fact sheet goes on to say that sexual abuse does not appear to be any more prevalent among children who grow up and identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual than in children who grow up and identify as heterosexual.
Similarly, the National Organization on Male Sexual Victimization notes on its website that "experts in the human sexuality field do not believe that premature sexual experiences play a significant role in late adolescent or adult sexual orientation" and added that it's unlikely that someone can make another person gay or heterosexual.
What absolutely sickens me is how supposed "Christian" groups such as the Family Research Council & the American Family Association come with this nonsense trying to portray gay people as frequent child molesters. These groups go on to try to attack the Southern Poverty Law Center for labeling them as hate groups. You see The FRC's Tony Perkins & Peter Sprigg go on CNN & MSNBC continuing to spill their lies because someone shot at a security guard at their headquarters, yet they want to blame the SPLC for that incident instead of taking responsibility for the garbage they constantly spew about gays. Nothing the FRC says is backed up the American Psychological Association, nor the American Academy of Pediatrics, nor the Child Molestation Research and Prevention Institute, nor Dr. A. Nicholas Groth who is a pioneer in the field of sexual abuse on children whose work the FRC has distorted in the past (Groth even wrote a letter to the FRC demanding to remove his name from an article about homosexual child molestation). The AFA was listed as a hate group because Bryan Fischer went on to say on his radio show that Adolf Hitler and all his Nazis were all gay because Hitler needed gay soldiers because straight soldiers weren't mean enough to be part of his Nazis. Basically Fischer and some of these other "pro-family" groups like Scott Lively's Abiding Truth Ministries (Lively wrote a book in the 90's called "The Pink Swatistka" which originated the Hiter & the Nazis were gay tall tale) are blaming homosexuals for the mass murders of Jews during World War II. So Fischer goes on to insist that to be true by promoting a book by a German Historian named Lothar Machtan called "The Hidden Hitler". Machtan believes Hitler was a homosexual. The problem with Machtan's book is that many historians have taken issue with his thesis as he gives no credible evidence to verify that Hitler was a homosexual but instead just gives baseless assumptions. When you go around calling gay people child molesters and Nazis that is not "Christian" at all, that sound more like hate groups to me! You also have right-wing idiot "news" websites like WorldNetDaily, MRC Newsbusters, Accuracy in Media & MercatorNet who also attack the SPLC for their hate group listings of these "pro-family" groups who obviously can't get the true facts or statistics in their heads of how these supposed "Christian" groups constantly continue to spread their BS lies!

That's what I've been saying for what seems like forever. It's hard to stay religious when you're gay and super-religiously-crazy people always try to point out how terrible you are and how you are an abomination. Well, if you ask me, I think the people who spread hate and spew venomous lies are the ones who are disgusting. God loves all of his people who believe, these "family values" people need to get that driven into their heads.
You, sir, get rep points for that.

You don't get it, and I don't think you ever will. You can never experience what gay people have to - truly - and that's not your fault. I shan't pity you for something you have no control over, but it makes me sad to know you'll never understand what it's like. I'd say spend a week in my shoes just to see what it's like but even then you wouldn't see everything.

I say round of applause for the Southern Poverty Law Center for standing up to these groups for calling them out on their BS! By the way, Family Research Council President Tony Perkins also spoke at the white supremacist organization Council For Conservative Citizens many years ago and has ties to former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke who Perkins used Duke's mailing list for a campaign.
