I bolded the only thing you ever need to say instead of posting your usual garbage. Tubby Smith had 15 years coaching experience and won 1 game in 6 years at Minnesota, and managed to run Kentucky into the ground even though he inherited a national championship team from Pitino.

He can be hired... You just have to give the NCAA the reason why you are hiring him. Basically the NCAA will be up your tail the whole time and isn't worth the effort. The work-around the show cause is to do what Akron did with Jim Tressel (who is under a show cause too).... Hire him for a non-athletic position.

That said, it makes no sense for the University of Memphis to pursue Bruce Pearl.

But that doesn't mean that if Memphis hired Bruce Pearl in the future, it wouldn't be a good hire.

He can still be hired. The school that hired him would just have to comply with the recruiting restrictions placed on him for the year. The school would not even have to go before the compliance board unless they wanted to challenge the restrictions.

BTW I am not sticking on a sinking ship with my opinion. If Pastner has a long career at Memphis that is much better than the last 4 years, I'd gladly say I was wrong and enjoy the success.
