I don't disagree. I was just being hypothetical and doing what if. If he had been given the position he would be there (Arizona) probably for his entire career. As it is he was given that opportunity here at U of M and it is very possible he will be here long term. Very long term. As I said, it is very lucky for Memphis he is not driven by just financial gains and ego as others are. He is a driven individual who aspires to do his best at every opportunity.

It's ridiculous to think any basketball coach or any person in a high profile entertainment position isn't driven chiefly by ego and money.

If he wasn't driven by ego, he wouldn't be willing to go on any radio show that'll have him. He wouldn't get snippy over criticism. He is very driven by ego.

If he wasn't financially driven, he wouldn't be trying to get a big raise every time he can.

At his core, Josh Pastner is the same as any other basketball coach. He might not curse or drink, but that doesn't mean he will abstain from the rule bends and selfishness that any other coach in the dirty game of NCAA athletics would partake in.

I didn't call Cal a loser on the NBA level. I have an understanding of how the NBA works. Cal was the victim of new team ownership. Still, people thought Cal was a failure in the NBA.

You're mention of Pitino speaks to your inability to understand parallel concepts and I guess explains your affinity for the Chewbacca defense.

So let me explain this:

Cal had stains of a programmatic NCAA investigation and violations with his biggest star player at UMass plus he was fired from his job as an NBA coach because of a significant losing streak. When Memphis hired him, he was tainted because of those two things... I never questioned his winning creditials at UMass. After all, Calipari took a school with no basketball brand that had never been a winner to a 3 seed and the sweet sixteen in his fourth season without a strong local recruiting base and three McD's All-Americans.

Rick Pitino had a bad NBA experience in Boston, but he still took two different schools to the Final Four and had a NCAA championship ring to his name. Rick Pitino was a bigger college basketball rock star than Calipari in 2001 when he was hired. So even if Rick sucked in the NBA level, when it comes to college, he had popped off twice.
