1. The officiating in that game is some of the worse I've ever seen. The officials were clearly the 6th player on the USM side. I saw a lot of dirty basketball.
I find it funny that EVERY team we play says the exact same thing: we play dirty. That is bullsh!t.
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
...its called playing tenacious and aggressive. We do it well. Players know it, coaches know it and most importantly REFS know it. We are not dirty, we're just TOUGH. You can thank Donnie Tyndall for that.

Memphis plays just as aggressive as USM does, if not more. Better team won, period.

Xactly! This actually makes sense for both schools...could see it with UCF and Tulane as well. MEM can't do home/home and don't care about UH or SMU.
I would love to continue the football side more, but there is no way they schedule us along with NC and NC State...'course, by the time all the realignment bs shakes out AND if the 4/16s choose to increase in conference scheduling, it may pan out in the future.
I agree that it makes sense for both USM and ECU to play OOC in basketball as well (Probably in baseball for OOC games too). When you say as long as home and home, do you mean one year at USM & next year at ECU or you would want them to play a home & home in the same season? Not sure it is the usual for the latter is the reason I ask.

year to year....same method as football scheduling....however, it would be possible to squeeze home/away in the same calendar season

I hope you enjoyed Dwayne Davis.
I bruised my buddy's bicept the first time I saw Davis play against WKU...along with Craig, I knew we were going to be a force. He OWNED the final minutes of this game!
Now that Boardingham has arrived (but quit fouling so much) and Carey and CJ are being forced even more into the Craig role due to his injury, I can say this is one of my favorite USM hoops years to date. I will always have a soft spot for the Keys, Hamilton, Fisher, White, Siler team since they were our first success, but this TEAM along with Tyndall has been a joy to experience.
Davis a good player. But I did mention on the first page of this thread that ECU has lost it's 2 best defensive guards for the year: "6'6" Erin Straughn and "6'4" Corvon Gaines. Straughn was ECU's starting 2 guard and Gaines was ECU's backup point guard. So any opposing midsized player between "6'5" and "6'7" has been a nightmare for ECU all season long, because the only guys that are left to guard those players are either "6'0" through "6'2" or "6'8" to "6'11". ECU has no other midsized players except a freshman named Prince Williams, but Lebo only plays him spot duty to let Miguel Paul get some rest. So every team that has that type of player, which is basically everyone; gives ECU problems.
Another problem that I just noticed yesterday is that now that Gaines is done for his career; Lebo will not take Miguel Paul off the floor, even though that freshman Williams has shown that he is pretty good at the point.

Props to Southern Miss on a hard fought win on the road. Those are difficult to come by especially when the home team is raining in 3's. To the credit of Southern Miss their Defense only got more suffocating when they would fall behind by 8+ pts. I knew when ECU let the lead slip at the end and missed the final shot to send it into OT that Southern Miss would win. It would have been a quality win for ECU but we just could not close the deal.

Southern Miss 86, ECU 82.
Pirates, meet Donnie Tyndall, you know, the coach that doesn't read scouting reports.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread you hit it perfectly with the part I put in bold. After ECU made a layup with 5:59 left in regulation, here's a breakdown of ECU's action to finish out the 2nd half:
6 made FT's
3 missed FT's
4 turnovers
1 missed 3 pointer
2 missed 2 pointers
Attempted 1 shot from the 4:37 mark until the final shot with 3 seconds left

Thanks. Your team put on a 3 point exhibition. USM only made one 3 pt shot all day.

I don't think he was referring to that game. However, had Memphis not put forth their best effort of the season, they lose that game.
If they had played like they did last night against Marshall they would've lost. Alas, they didn't and won.

Strange since Southern Miss is the best three-point shooting team in the league. Shlt happens.
After that 9 for 1 performance, we won't be.

Congrats on your win. I didn't recognize those officials at first, but then I realized that you guys flew them in first the CUSA tournament.
By the way congratulations to the great State of Mississippi for finally ratifying the 13th Amendment.

Marv, that would be 9 in a row over the mighty Pirate basketball team. What was really great last Saturday was that you really thought you were going to win. Now that is funny.
