I'm not talking ancient history here. I know you guys used to play the Cajuns and other quite a bit. Since the schools moved up to FBS have you played any of them?

Has LA Tech played any SBC school in the last 10-15 years?

I hate when people say "We are all time against X school since 1905" Give me records from the past 30 years or so and Ill take that a fair sample.

Tech moved up in 1989. We are 28-7-1 against SBC teams since then.

We've only played 4 games against Sun Belt teams since the Sun Belt was formed in 2001. We beat ULL twice and North Texas twice.

That plus we played ULM in 97, 98, 99, and 2000 when they were Division I-A Independent.

We won all 4.

I guess Charlotte once both make it up.

If ODU can get a hold of a time machine set to the 1980s, Louisiana Tech for women's basketball.

This is the fun part about joining CUSA... rivalries. It was hard to get a rivalry going with Fresno St, Boise St, Nevada, and Hawaii because of geography. We never recruited the same players they recruited. We never saw any of their fans around town. CUSA is going to be more exciting!

Which team(s) do I want my UAB Blazers to beat in Conference USA when we play them? Hell, every damn one of them! ;-)

Seriously, this is a very good topic, I love dialogue like this! Off the top of my head, Southern Miss comes to mind almost immediately, I got this thing for Tulsa, too, especially where football is concerned, our Blazers had them and let them off the hook last season. As far as the newcomers to the conference, Charlotte's very high on that list, as is Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee State.

Speaking of 80s throwbacks, if CUSA invites Western Kentucky, can we set up a Sun Belt Retro pod with them, ODU, UAB and Charlotte?

Normal circumstances I would have to say ECU... but as in every year, the one team we HAVE to beat is FIU and get that damn trophy back and continue our dominance.

RE: New Conference USA additions; Which Team
I would say for the new teams that La. Tech and MTSU are both games I look forward to. I figure one of the Florida teams will eventually become a rivalry, but they need more time to grow before they start bringing the level of football we are used to. North Texas could be the sleeper here, they seem to taking this very serious.

I would just like to say to all the former Sun Belt teams that we love ALL our new conference mates. Now, I would like to beat USM more than anyone else. I really would like to see the Rivalry in the South become a major thing.

You're entitled to your opinion but I don't think you can judge a school or fan base by its homer message board.

Also, we're not even playing each other next year. 03-shhhh

"When you play them" ...not "next year" (gotta think about these things)

I'm going to have to say USM and MTSU. USM because I like them and I think a good rivalry will develop. Something we've been missing for a long time. MTSU because of the internet disagreements I've seen from both sides over the years. Hopefully it will turn out to be great mutual respect now that we are in the same conference. Darkhorse = UTSA.

You did lose to Middle Tennessee in 2000, but I think that was the last time we played.

(And as interest fun facts to show you how much things change, we beat Uconn 66-10 that year and South Florida 45-9.)

Fair enough. The main point of my post was that you should let people on a team message board get to you.

Metaphorically speaking: if you wanna eat Cheetos in in the buff on your couch at home, who has a right to tell you that it's gross or offensive?

Very true. They are usually very crappy. I much prefer coming to the conference boards or the realignment board. That way there is at least a slim chance of having a reasonable discussion.

I have this feeling that Marshall/Charlotte has a lot of potential to develop into a solid rivalry. There are so many West Virginia-born folks living in North Carolina that could make that one real interesting.

Marshall.

Why ? Would love for this to become a rivalry and get large groups of fans from both schools to travel back and forth.

Love me some West Virginia, and may have to break out the pull-behind camper.

Hoops ? UAB

I look forward to playing MTSU more than any of newbies. And by the way there is a KOA campground about 15 minutes from stadium and a state park with campground also.

I think there are a lot of people that want a piece of us. UNT and MTSU folks certainly won't shy away from it. The UTSA game this season got rather ugly. UAB cares more about USM right now but given MTSU's bkb strength it will probably shift in your pick's direction.

And let's not forget that Tulsa (we own the series 7-2 03-wink ) and LaTech got into a nasty brawl back in 1990 when 10 players were ejected. LINK
