Maybe the two teams being undefeated going into the game had something to do with the larger number this year. We were 5-1 at that point that year with our only loss being the Duke massacre.
Also, if memory serves me correctly, I saw more purple in 09.
You are correct, I believe that is why we expected more of a turnout from them.
Well I don't know what caused the lack of fans, we had a good record (against bad teams but most ECU fans don't really care as long as we are winning) and Charlotte was easily the biggest game on our schedule up to that point.

OOC has been pretty soft but gets more difficult with Miami and Florida State. Davidson I guess is considered a good win even though we are 28-11 against those guys all time. I think Ashville took State to the wire so who knows? Also, we are still starting freshman and sophmores so anything can still happen. Our remaining OCC schedule
Central Michigan Kennesaw St.
Radford
UNC-Asheville
Miami
Florida St
Bolded will likely be RPI anchors by March. UNC-Asheville may not be much better but their always a threat to win their tournament and make the field
Not even worrying about RPI right now. That's for NCAA teams and we are still very very young, playing a soft schedule, etc. Now, if we get past Miami and FlState I'll start checing out RPI numbers. But now, not so much.

I actually don't know many ECU fans in Charlotte honestly. I feel like there are very few hardcore ECU fans here. I'm assuming most stay in Eastern NC and Raleigh?

There's a large ECU Alumni base in Charlotte. They've played a few games @ BofA stadium and pack that place, they bring a crowd. I have a lot of friends that live in Charlotte that went to ECU. 90% don't care about ECU basketball, only Football and partying. That pretty much sums up their showing at Halton last week.

Good ECU crowds at BoA yes, "pack that place"......uhh, no.

Definitely a much higher concentration than in Charlotte. Of the ~92,000 alumni that live in NC, 14,754 live in Pitt County, 14,424 live in Wake County and 3,839 in Mecklenburg County. Those are the top 3 concentrations by county but it's hardly a massive amount of Pirates (at least in terms of Alumni) in Charlotte.
Here is the complete breakdown of ECU Alumni in NC if you are interested.

It would be really interesting to see for all NC schools to compare who is where across the state.
Anywho, I feel like I've derailed this thread enough. Best of luck to Charlotte with the rest of the season. I was really impressed with what I saw in the ECU game. I knew it would be a very tough test but I underestimated how good you were this year. Very good looking team, and if you clean up the few minutes of sloppy play (that happens when a team is cruising sometimes) you can hang with a lot of teams.

Went to the game and was also surprised at the limited number of Pirate fans. ECU basketball has been not just bad but incredibly horrible for the last 25+ years. Even so, we have more fans at our home basketball games than some of the terrible football programs have at their home football games.
Also, Charlotte fans shouldn't really talk about ECU showing in BOA.. I'm sure we had more fans in BOA the last few times than Charlotte will have at their football home games for quite some time.

I don't think he was bashing our attendance in BOA, more making a relative statement compared to what the last poster said. Let's not derail this thread any more.

Ok, so they pack the parking lots while tailgating. Sorry about getting off track. Go Niners! 9-0
9-0 feels really good. We will see what this team is about with a tough game @Miami. Since it's Miami on a Friday night, I don't expect the crowd to be a factor.

Plus it'll be after exams. Most Miami students are not local, so the crowd should be very small.
