Absolutely! But there are so many issues of substance where the issue of trust can be pressed ("If you like your health care plan you can keep it"), why press one that involves conspiracy theory?

Disclaimer: I refuse to believe almost any conspiracy theories involving our government. There is way too much incompetence and glory-seeking in DC for any large group of non-military/security people to keep a juicy secret for an extended period of time.

I wish the debate would turn away from "he's not eligible to be president" and simply to a... while honest people can debate specifically what "transparency" is, and what "keeping your healthcare option" mean, when someone won't release something as simple and harmless as hs *** Laude/Law Review grades, you have to question what he is hiding in those more complex questions.

I just don't buy that he has nothing to hide in his healthcare bill, but he has to hide his Harvard grades

While the Birther's are busy with their little conspiracy theories...the real conspiracy is being pulled off against the American citizens by the thieves that inhabit the hollowed halls of Congress. Keep on concentrating on imaginary problems while the real problems swallow nation. Good work!04-bow

You don't happen to see his eligibility to be president as a real problem, other differ and see it as a constitutional problem of epic proportions. So STFU, others are entitled to their opinions.

I don't happen to see his eligibility to be president to be a real problem, because his mother's US citizenship makes him a citizen by birth (and that's what "natural born citizen" means), no matter where he was born. Yes, I know there's a statutory issue there--but I don't think it would take the supreme court long to rule the statute unconstitutional.

I'm way more concerned about the lack of exposure to his academic record and other things like that.

He lied about getting a BJ. Not exactly a "high crime and misdemeanor" that the GOP was hoping for when they sent their bulldog Kenneth Starr after him for a five-year witch hunt.

And the net result was that Clinton's popularity skyrocketed with the general public, Newt Gingrich resigning as Speaker of the House, and the Democrats making huge gains in Congress.

He committed perjury under oath to congress therefore nothing he says for the rest of his life can be trusted. Perjury is a high crime. Now, Chit4brains, does it matter what he lied under oath about? Or how long it took to find the truth. Carry that water, b!thch.

He lied about a BJ. Not about WMDs that didn't exist.

1) There is no evidence that Bush 'lied' only that he was wrong. Could he have lied? sure, I won't put it past him but all anyone knows is that the intelligence he had, in front of him, was accepted in the world community and indicated Iraq was not far off of being 'there'...

2) Clinton did not just lie about a BJ under oath while defending himself from a speeding ticket....

He was on trial for sexual harassment, the violation of someone else's rights, and he perjured himself. Many on the left went after Bob Packwood for *far* less.

1) There's plenty of evidence that Bush lied.

2) Clinton was defending himself against the Starr witch hunt which was originally commissioned to investigate Whitewater. They found nothing, so they got him for getting a BJ.

1) What evidence exist of an attempt to intentionally deceive?

2) No, they had him for sexually harassing someone in the past. The BJ was not the issue, the abuse of position was relevant to that case.

You don't see this as an anchor around his neck, and because others do, they are bigots, raciest, jokers, loons, Other people are entitled to their view of the facts at hand. c'mon Sum. He didn't change the subject... he addressed it... he merely asked you to be a little more respectful.

I understand it is an issue... I just don't think it's a WINNING issue... In fact, I see it as potentially a hugely LOSING issue. The WINNING issue is honesty and transparency.

Even in THIS thread, democrats try and argue that Bush lied about WMD, despite a dozen UN resolutions and reports from Hans Blix that they couldn't rule out his having them or seeking to acquire them, and we KNOW he had them at one point AND used them... Over and over, I see them fall back on "Bush did, too"... but is that what we were promised?? Just like Bush but with expensive healthcare??

IF, and it is a pretty big if... the SCOTUS were to declare that he was ineligible... there would be a backlash of motivation from the left AND we'd get Biden. If you instead argue that he is untrustworthy and hiding things, the BEST the left has is that he is just as bad as everyone else. Not exactly motivating for the left... and loses a lot of independents as well

You derailed the subject with a personal attack.

I clearly stated that it was you that was marginalizing yourself..not me. The birther movement is marginalizing itself just as I do when I advocate some of my iconoclastic fantasy land BS. Only difference...I understand the paradigm we live in and am realistic about it ever changing. Anyone that really thinks that the majority of people give 2 sh!ts about this birther issue evidently did not notice the landslide victory 2 years ago. If I am not mistaken...this issue was brought up before that election. It is just time to focus on things that actually can be proven if we do not want this guy in office in 2013.

I've stayed out of this fray for good reason. Whether or not I can be lumped into the "birther" crowd means nothing to me. Even if I disagree with his politics, HuskieFan wrote a comment consistent with what I said a long time ago on this topic.

This issue of secrecy over his birth certificate, his college records, etc. is simply a major distraction that was put in place by his handlers as a DIVERSION with which to marginalize the opposition party. It has worked beautifully.

OWL69/70/75 was on target early in the thread when he wrote:

Diversion + political smears = independent voters fleeing in mass and Obama gets re-elected.

This was intentionally done and like a false flag operation, has worked better than they could have ever imagined. Still is today and will be come election day 2012. If this keeps getting pushed the O will benefit, assuming that the economy has recovered. Focus on policy, not these peripheral issues. They are a loser for the GOP.

While I believe the lack of transparency is a legitimate issue, it is not important enough for somebody to ruin their campaign before it ever starts by parroting the "birther" mantra. We've got real problems and are tired of the lies and half-truths out of this bunch in the WH. Birther nonsense will not win an election but will be seen by many as cheap political attacks and that meme will be pushed by the blamestream media..

Would you birthers care about any of this if his father was a White German Protestant instead of a Black Kenyan Muslim?

Why does Obama feel he's above the law? The law requires an "original or certified copy of a birth certificate." Where does it allow a cert of live birth? A certificate of live birth proves what? That he wasn't born dead?

Your link shows that a passport is proof of employment eligibility. I wonder if Obama has one?

There are many good reasons why Obama should not be president. Where he was born isn't one of them.
