Ukraine was always willing. That doesn't mean you lay all your cards on the table publicly. Its Russia who is the barrier.
I'm amazed how you people swallow Putin's propaganda hook line and sinker. You're as bad as the TDS people.
I'm amazed that you support a regime that has soaked the American taxpayer for hundreds of billions of dollars-even though the statement below places the figure at less than 200 billion. When he pays it all back, I'll reconsider my position on the little dude.
We had no business becoming involved except to offer humanitarian aid. Ukraine isn't in NATO and we don't have an alliance with them.
"In a recent interview (October 2026), U.S. Vice President JD Vance explicitly stated that the U.S. does not have a "formal alliance" with Ukraine and that he "doesn't think they should be in NATO." He described the relationship as a partnership with "divergent interests," noting specific disagreements over Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy facilities".
The internet tells us that Trump was the one who started giving aid to Ukraine. And he did, but only after Obama had made promises and delivered "blankets" rather than meaningful aid.
"Ukraine did not receive significant direct U.S. financial aid during Donald Trump’s first term (2017–2021), as major aid packages were primarily enacted under the Biden administration following Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. However, the U.S. provided approximately $31.7 billion in military assistance to Ukraine through Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) between August 2021 and early 2025, a period that overlaps with the end of Trump’s first term and the start of his second.
Pre-2022 Context: Before the 2022 invasion, U.S. security assistance to Ukraine was limited, focusing on training, equipment, and counterterrorism support rather than large-scale financial transfers.
First Term Specifics: Trump’s first administration did not authorize the massive supplemental appropriations that characterized post-2022 aid. The bulk of the $174.2 billion in congressional aid was appropriated after the 2022 invasion, under President Biden.
Clarification: Figures often cited today (e.g., $183 billion appropriated or $119 billion allocated per the Kiel Institute) refer to the period since 2022, not Trump’s first term. Any claim of hundreds of billions in aid to Ukraine during 2017–2021 is inaccurate."
Ukraine has historically been led by extremely corrupt administrations, so...
And this is in no way an endorsement of Putin. He, like his counterpart, suffers from little man syndrome, and he has been brutal. I have no love for either him or Zelenskyy.
AFAIC we need to stay the hell out of other people's wars unless they are allied with us.
