Imagine if he had been this combative against the Democrats instead of his own party

Yes indeed, but a motive has not been attributed. I would strongly suggest that his accounts be examined for 3rd party dark money entering his coffers to resist. He's retiring and likely feathering his nest, or the nest of someone in his family. If that is the case and he has received any large sum to either personal or campaign accounts, he could be silenced.

All of these politicians think they are untouchable so it makes me laugh when one who is retiring believes he will keep that status. That's when they are most vulnerable to investigations, because those who had run cover for them no longer see those efforts as money well spent when those same funds can be extended to whoever replaces him.

That said even those still in power can and do slip up when calculating the risks of their actions.

I think it’s actually the other way around, he found his conscience once the gravy train was over.

Ha, no. Once you become a whore for money you've lost your moral compass. You can't regrow a conscience. The exceptions are only those who never lost a moral compass and never took a bribed and they are weeded out in the vetting process of either party. They want the goods on the people they nominate and elect so they can be controlled. It's the same principle as the mafia's "Made Man" or for that matter Yale's "Skull and Bones". I'm afraid Capra's "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" would be pure fiction today. Constituents' money no longer elects them. PAC money and network airtime does. Hell, they don't even bother to generate party platforms to unite their sides with the promises most of the candidates' voters supported. It's not about us. It's about what the corporate donors want, and they don't want to be tied down like Gulliver because of promises made to the "little people".

It's one thing to be a zealot for the left or right, but in either case it's downright rube level naivete' to believe in that integrity is behind either's intentions or actions.

That's why my vote goes to the side whose military position best enhances the chances of my children's and grandchildren's freedom and survival. And that creates some tough decisions just within the party, let alone for national elections.

He was a Romney Republican and had to put up with Trump.

Trump threatened to primary him which is why he caved and voted for Hegseth...when it became obvious he wasn't going to win he feels free to act like he has always been a liberal Republican

It wouldn't get made at all unless it was aa a campy comedy...it's just not realistic in today's society

A talking filibuster!!!??? A flying unicorn is more realistic

I don’t necessarily disagree but it just reinforces my position. Once he was no longer incentivized to fall in line for reelection he could seek absolution by “finding” his conscience on the way out. Too bad for him he didn’t find it sooner

If you did a psych evaluation on Congress you would find that the vast majority of them have narcissistic personality types, and that a good percentage of those would be classified as sociopaths and that has nothing to do with party and everything to do with the personality types who want that kind of constant notoriety. The drive to go after any opponent or their family members, whether with the truth, inuendo, or outright lies to attain their objective shows no empathy and demonstrates fully that they possess the ends justifies the means mentality. You would not want this type of person dating your son or daughter! Add to it the fact that the vast majority of them are attorneys and you already have a mentality that will do whatever is necessary to represent the party that pays them. So no, this ******* isn't developing a last second conscience.

You’re acting like he would face consequences if he did take money for a position. The dark money Supreme Court has already said bribery is legal and Trump has normalized payoffs in the government. The only consequence he’d have is Republicans wouldn’t vote for him which is no longer an issue

It would almost be better if it was reversed. I'd rather know my Senator was bought by John Doe and his 10 rich friends than
by some soulless hard to trace corporation

RE: The SAVE Act - 2026 is the time to apply pressure on Thune and the filibuster
just another number can only go up in the "never happens" dept...

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/democra...lls-purged

Quote:Democrat New Jersey governor says thousands of noncitizens discovered on voter rolls, purged

Gov. Mikie Sherrill said fewer than 400 of those registered through the software glitch voted in past elections

NJ Gov. Mikie Sherrill says 6,600 noncitizens were registered to vote due to "software error"
Sherrill said fewer than 400 of those individuals actually voted in elections.

New Jersey's Governor announced Tuesday afternoon that thousands of noncitizens were registered to vote in her state — and some cast ballots in past elections.

Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill said that a "serious software error in New Jersey’s Motor Vehicle System led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office."

"These individuals answered 'no' when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers' licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway," according to Sherrill.

She stressed that while the "error" occurred under the previous administration, headed by Democrat Phil Murphy, she ordered her administration's attorney to look into the matter and remove the illegally-registered voters from the rolls.

"Our preliminary analysis shows fewer than 400 individuals who were newly registered for the first time because of the error voted," she said. "They were registered as Democrats, Republicans and Unaffiliated voters and were scattered across the state."

"I am appalled by the reckless failures that allowed this to happen and the lack of transparency shown by those in charge at the time," she said, emphasizing for the third time that the improper voting didn't happen on her watch.

"This is another example of Democrats failing to secure elections. If Democrats would embrace voter ID – which has broad public support – the MVC’s voter registration failures would have been corrected at the ballot box," said NJ Assembly Minority Leader John DiMaio, R-Hackettstown. "New Jersey needs voter ID, because citizens deserve confidence in election results and Trenton Democrats have proven they do not respond to known problems in the voter rolls."

So did another state lawmaker.

"Our election integrity is built on a foundation of sand," said Sen. Joe Pennacchio, R-Boonton/Montville. You have illegals being given driver's licenses, really no precaution to tell whether or not they should be getting them. "[Sherrill] said, ‘oh, you, know, it was a mistake of 6,600. They specifically said they didn't want to vote, they didn't have the -- they did not register.' And in the meantime, 400 of them did, and … excuse my cynicism but, you know, this is the same administration through their sanctuary state policies and through their DMV policies that's created this whole mess, so for them to say 6,600 I would not be surprised if it's exponential to that number."

The Trump administration also weighed in.

"Democrats and their media allies have repeatedly said it is impossible for noncitizens to register to vote, let alone cast a ballot. Time and again, they have been proven wrong. As President Trump has said, there is nothing more important than the integrity of our elections," White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said. "And this latest incident underscores the absolute necessity of the SAVE America Act. American voters deserve to have confidence that our elections are safe and secure."

The Republican National Committee's spokesperson on election integrity similarly slammed the New Jersey governor for her classification of the issue.

"Mikie Sherrill says election integrity is 'fundamental to our democracy,' yet just last month the RNC and NJGOP uncovered hundreds of noncitizens on New Jersey's voter rolls and records of noncitizens voting in past elections," Ally Triolo told Fox News Digital.

"Every time Democrats say noncitizen voting is a 'non-issue,' voters learn about another case that proves otherwise. It's time to stop making excuses and pass the SAVE America Act.".

In June, Fox News Digital exclusively reported that noncitizens were registered to vote in the state over a period of years. Some of them voted in elections. Others, when attempting to become naturalized citizens, copped to being on the voter rolls and said they were registered by mistake.

The New Jersey Republican Party (NJGOP) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) requested voter rolls from all 21 counties in the Garden State and ultimately found multiple instances of noncitizens who were seeking naturalization asking to be removed from the rolls, claiming they were unknowingly registered to vote.

Most were registered as Democrats.

"Please allow this letter to confirm that on today's date, the below referenced individual came before this office to confirm her registration and voter status," a typical letter read. "She relayed that she did not wish to be a New Jersey registered voter and does not understand how she became registered through the Department of Motor Vehicles, allegedly."

Other documents showed noncitizens directly asking to be removed from the rolls through a state voter registration cancellation form.

When prompted about why they wished to be removed, the vast majority of the unknowingly registered voters checked a box labeled "other" and wrote that they were not citizens.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for comment on the latest revelations.

The FEC declined to comment, noting that its purview is federal elections.
