Not eliminating Iran as a nuclear threat.

RE: AAA - Gas Hits $4
I'm not too saavy on this oil business dealings but my question is: Why if the US is an entity that is not relying on Opec use our oil that we're selling now to other nations to bring down the cost of gasoline in the US. If we have so much why haven't the prices come down? We're not Opec, we have no pacts with them to do their bidding so why not use our oil to refine more for gasoline?
Maybe ol foggy was wiser in this regard because he tapped into the reserves to temporarily bring prices down, why don't we use that same method but use the oil we're selling instead of the reserves?

Because the US doesn't own our oil, the oil companies do. Those companies don't care about bringing down the price of gas for US consumers, they care about the only thing they are supposed to care about, maximizing profits. There used to be a ban on exporting US oil, but that was repealed back in 2016. Even still Trump actually does have the ability to pause all exports for up to 1 year during national emergencies, and I'd argue now would be the time to do that, but Trump seems to care more about the idea that we are getting more ships from other countries coming here to get our oil. That does nothing to lower prices of gas for us, and doesn't make the US more money, it just makes those corporations more money.

And raises the price of gas and depletes our inventories. It doesn't lessen demand or increase supply because we're at or near refining capacity.
We simply need more rigs and refineries if we think we're going to at any time ever be able to just produce what we use. And further, there's a very real possibility that we're nearing the end of our shale revolution...as least at the "easier" portion of the extraction.

You can actually cite some documented reasons as to why you blame Biden for the high cost.
Meanwhile, I have documented countless times how a good deal of that was caused by trump, coupled with things neither US president really could control.
1. OPEC 2020 deal signed by trump, the biggest driver of the high prices.
2. Global inflation due to Covid shutdowns...and not just here in the US.
3. Russia invading Ukraine.
You can't just look at it from terms of who is in office when the price peaks. You have to look at the factors that brought it about. And with O&G, those things don't always happen as quickly as this increase has...which was caused almost exclusively by trump attacking Iran.
Can you tell us why Trump made that deal and be honest about it?
I honestly don't really know what he was thinking. Likely because he thought oil demand would be low during the pandemic...which it was...but he was saying publicly that he thought it would be over by Easter. So if he truly thought it would be over by Easter, why did he sign a 2-year deal?
Perhaps he thought if they cut production that the US oil industry would produce and sell more. But the problem with that was his actions a couple years prior to Covid that caused lots of bankruptcies in US oil companies (no, not the behemoth ones, the small ones). When he first came into office, he begged OPEC to increase production because he wanted to make good on his belief that gas prices should be well under $2 per gallon. But the US Oil industry doesn't make much when gas is so cheap. So OPEC flooded the marked and rig count fell, employment in the oil fields plummeted, and investment went away and could not really recover in time to produce more to make up for the OPEC cuts when COVID went away and things opened back up. Again, it normally takes years for oil to go from discovery to refineries.
Did you forget Russia's part in this. Also it looks like your time line is a little mixed up.
I've mentioned Russia many times before in talking about their Ukraine invasion leading to elevated gas prices, but you only asked me about the OPEC 2020 deal and why trump signed it. I don't recall Russia playing much of a roll in this other than them being a member of OPEC. But this deal was a win for OPEC. The completely bamboozled trump here...so I'm sure Russia and the other OPEC leaders laughed vociferously when trump actually agreed to this horrific deal.
And you're going to have to be a tad more specific on what you think is mixed up with the timeline. Keeping in mind that again, changes in the O&G industry often take over a year to materialize into changing the price of gas.
You seem to be confused with the bases of the question.
"Can you tell us why Trump made that deal and be honest about it"
I guess you forgot about the oil price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia at the time. Saudi Arabia initiated a price war on oil with Russia, which facilitated a 65% quarterly fall in the price of oil. So why was the deal made,I ask you again.
I noticed that after you replied to my comment you called someone ignorant. If I was you I wouldn't be throwing that word around. I asked you a simple question and you have danced around it. I know you are not ignorant but you seem to be playing that Card.

Dude, check your eyes. I answered your question with my first sentence in the first reply. I bolded it for you. I don't know why he made the deal.
I then went on to give you my opinion on why he might have made the deal.
And regardless of whatever was occurring between SA and Russia at the time, the deal was made, and it ended up being one of the worst, if not the worst deal any US president has ever made in regards to OPEC.
Bottom line, Putin, SA, and OPEC are all drastically smarter than trump...and even more so when it comes to matters of O&G. And no, Biden wasn't smarter then them on it either. They played him like a fiddle.

Because our Oil companies export oil also. If the Brent crude price goes up the US oil companies are going to take advantage of that. Simple as that. Oil companies don't sell oil to themselves. They are drilling it, refining it and then selling it to gas stations, some of which they own the pumps at the station and set the price of the fuel coming out of those tanks. US oil companies are making a fortune right now, which will benefit the US in the form of purchasing and taxes. That is why Trump isn't beating them up. Now when the Brent crude price decreases once the Strait has more traffic and the WTI doesn't go down, they may have some problems.

Well Ok you don't know. But in one hand you are saying you don't know why Trump made that deal in 2020. But in the other hand you are saying the deal he made screwed Biden in 2022. Sounds like you only know half the story but I think you do. You just don't want to talk about it. At the same time you are defending high gas prices during Biden by trying to blame Trump without knowing anything about the deal in 2020. You know maybe the problem was Biden and his DEI cabinet was dumber than a bag of rocks and didn't know how to make a deal. Or maybe if they didn't spend all of there time pushing all the Green deal stuff.

Trump's deal with OPEC ended in 2022. Biden didn't or couldn't renegotiate it. He even went to the Saudis and they laughed at him because of his incompetence.
But keep screaming Trump like the inbred mouth breather you are cat boy.
That deal reduced output to 6 million b/d from January 2021-April 2022 when it ended. You know what the actual decrease was? You guessed it. Nothing. This information is pretty easy to find. OPEC was producing then what they have been the 4 years aftewards.

You might want to take an online class on how to read charts and graphs. The chart I posted shows the same numbers as the one you posted. OPEC was producing as much oil in May 2022 as it was last year and yet Oil was selling at a higher price than it is today with the Strait of Hormuz closed.

So to summarize massive gains for the oil companies, some marginal gains for the US economy at large, but massive increased costs to the average American and zero mechanism to ever give people back the money this war is going to cost them.

I saw something today I have never seen before.
I was sitting at a traffic light, when the service station on the corner changed its price for regular from $4.04 a gallon to $3.69.
That's crazy.

My chart was in reply to your comment which I bolded. Yes, things returned to what they were before the deal, nobody is denying that. But no, the decrease was not nothing. It was a huge drop and production remained lower during the 2 years of the deal. That lead to higher prices due to lower supply.

Yeah, I don't know why he made the deal...I can only speculate. As can you. Unless you have some source of trump explaining why he made the deal. Good luck with that...I've yet to see him cogently explain any policy decision of his. It's usually just unintelligible word salad.
But yes, I'm well aware of what the deal did and how it effected gas prices under Biden. I've explained it many many times on here the last couple years. And it didn't just screw Biden, it screwed us all...and was the primary driver of our $5 record high gas prices under Biden. That's not a defense of the prices or Biden, it's just a truthful explanation of them. I'm not the one trying to pin that all on Biden, you guys are...and ignorantly so.
And Biden's cabinet had jack to do with this...but if you think his Cabinet isn't up to par with trump's, you're delusional.

Not eliminating Iran as a nuclear threat.
THAT has obviously already happened.
If it has, why the **** are we still blocking the strait and putting troops in harms way and ******* up the global economy?!?!?
So, what do you think they are saving their nuke(s) for? We are blocking their transports because THEY are threatening ships going through the Strait. You are a little dramatic with the global economy thing. Our economy is rolling along. China is the one having problems.
What nukes? There is NO evidence that Iran has a deliverable weapon. None!

Believe what, the cabinet comment? It's just ridiculous to try and make some claim that one is superior to the other. It's not like you're playing some sports competition where there is a known winner. It's akin to a beauty or popularity contest. Yes, they're on par with each other. Trying to definitely make a case one way or the other is just ridiculous. It's all subjective.
