But I have already been doing this for 4 years, I'm almost 80 now, and I'm just tired of it. Four meals a day is enough for me to prepare, lol.

Plus, I run my own private Memphis sports website, and I spend time here. Plus normal outside activities like gas, groceries, doctors, shooting range, road trips, etc.

That's enough time without cooking dinner, too, lol.

I hear ya. I just meant whenever you wanted to try something new and felt a little adventurous in the kitchen for dinner. lol 04-cheers Plus, you've got leftovers you can eat for up to a week if you want. It really does make a lot.

They likely measure profitability by square footage and I would image they have determined their money is made in the restaurant and not in the retail, so they’re likely reducing the amount of space dedicated to retail and increasing the size of their dining area. They’re changing the emphasis away from the store and more towards the food service. The knock on CB is the length of the wait for travelers, so why not reduce the retail emphasis at their locations & increase the restaurant?

Are they remodeling them all to get rid of the country look or are they leaving the ones in the south with the classic look? I could see them remodeling ones that are in the north or the west, trying to get more customers there. In the south you're only looking for a boycott.

Here's a video on it from Cracker Barrel...

Except that is absolutely not what they are doing. The retail area is the same size. So is the seating area.

I guess I don’t. Companies update their logos all the time & obviously Cracker Barrel felt the need to do the same. The old man on the porch wasn’t iconic like Col Sanders & the logo was dated. I don’t really care for the update but good lord how thin skinned the MAGAS are. Cracker Barrels sales were flat… their concept is dated… companies that do nothing die. Had they renamed themselves the Barrel and removed the name Cracker then you’d have reason to be upset.

Leftists like you are way more thin skinned than Trump supporters, Marc.

Trump supporters panic every time a gay person is shown in an advertisement.

No they don't. They point and laugh at how stupid they are. Just like I'm doing to you right now, and I don't even like Trump.

They do? I wonder why last year my whole social media was full of Trump supporters yelling about how a trans person advertising Budlight or rainbow clothes at Target are the degeneration of American society.

They probably should be doing that though. They should increase the space of the dining area and decrease the retail area. And that would help increase revenue since I suspect more people prefer to eat there and leave than eat then shop before leaving. No hard rebrand needed. (But I'm a Southeast Texas redneck, of course.)

I guess then just be mad. I like to stop there and eat when traveling & will continue to do so. I saw the tik tok video and don’t really see much difference. Looks a little cleaner & less cluttered, but as long as the turnip greens, corn bread and has brown casserole remain the same, I couldn’t care less. I did look up their sales breakdown and retail only makes up 18% of their mix… I’m surprised they aren’t trying to maximize their restaurants.

You obviously aren't a regular customer, lol. Retail markup is usually WAY higher than food markup. And the retail space is very small relative to the restaurant seating.

The retail area also includes customer greeting and seating, checkout registers, and bathrooms. The whole thing would likely be not much smaller without the merchandise. It is really jammed in there. Which obviously is intentional.

I think 3A said earlier in the thread that they are indeed changing the menu, too. And apparently, they already have in some locations even before the rebrand and remodel.

I agree, even though I only ate there twice, and haven't been back in over twenty-four years.

To be honest, I prefer the cheese Kraft makes that has their name on it. It's amazing, especially the Extra Sharp Cheddar.

Kraft cheddar cheese upsets Mr. Dazzle's sensitive tummy.

More evidence of Nashville going total woke.

Such a stupid decision.

As I noted previously, Cracker Barrel is located in Lebanon, the county seat of Wilson County (which sits adjacent to Nashville/Davidson County). Wilson County is Trump Country.

This suggestion that the "wokeness" of Nashville has somehow infiltrated the Cracker Barrel leadership borders on odd.

Just call it what it is: a stupid decision by Cracker Barrel. No need to insert the "Nashville is going total woke" argument. We (Nashville) have enough problems as it is to be worried about one more concern (in this case, a bad move by CB) that is not of our making.

Some conservatives fear trans people. And some liberals fear patriotic folks. Unfortunate either way.

Woke CEO's dont poll. They know best and they tell their customers that.

The woke CEO thought cracker barrel and its customer base was too hicksville. And the customers needed to change, so change their environment so they can see what they are missing out on in liberal wokesville utopia.

I would think there have been both woke and unwoke leaders of various companies who have not polled their customers before such a rebrand. Puzzling why they wouldn't but I'm not a business person. Maybe I'm just clueless.

Full rebrand.. There's a video of some of the new 'stock' they're putting in. Basicaliy a lot more clothing that looks like it belongs at an Gap21 or Banana Republic. They pulled out a lot of the Americana crafts section as well.

They're also change the interior.. now it looks like every standard 'chain' restaurant with white walls, no wicker/wood anywhere. They kept some of the classic signage but it's now "more organized" than just being spread all over the walls.

The ones that have a fireplace look like those are being removed out as well.

And yes, there is also some change in the menu supposedly.

I’m sure Cracker Barrel… a multi billion dollar brand… did conduct focus groups before making the change. What derailed them was the reaction from Donald Trump Jr… who likely has never stepped inside of one… and social media influencers who took the opportunity to turn this into a ridiculous political argument.

RE: Cracker Barrel loses $100M in cap value in one day
I’ve been to Cracker Barrel once in the last year. We stopped in La Grange for breakfast when we took the 6 grandkids to Kings Island a month or so ago.

The food isn’t what it used to be. The restaurant needed a rebrand for certain. Their customer base is dying off. Those like myself who enjoyed the nostalgia of the restaurant are no longer willing to visit often for a crappy meal.

Young people aren’t going to Cracker Barrel, regardless of what color you paint it or if there’s a barrel on the logo or not.

Cracker Barrel’s business model started dying when half the country started hating America. How do you sell nostalgia to people who think Abraham Lincoln was a racist? You don’t….

All the new CEO has done is preside over a mercy killing because that restaurant is dead.

Good riddance as far as I’m concerned.
