I guess I don’t. Companies update their logos all the time & obviously Cracker Barrel felt the need to do the same. The old man on the porch wasn’t iconic like Col Sanders & the logo was dated. I don’t really care for the update but good lord how thin skinned the MAGAS are. Cracker Barrels sales were flat… their concept is dated… companies that do nothing die. Had they renamed themselves the Barrel and removed the name Cracker then you’d have reason to be upset.
It's not just the logo.
Over the past few months, they've announced changes to the menu and the interior decor that trend in this same direction.
It used to be different, and now it's just bland corporatism.
Here is a quote from a guy who has been a Chief Marketing Officer at several different companies that captures the problem pretty well:

Cracker Barrel should have polled its customers, asking how the brand could be "refreshed" in a way they (the dedicated customers) would like.
A missed opporturnity.

Yeah, giving up on the country theme is dumb, assuming that is what they are doing. That is what they are known for and I don't see getting rid of it bringing in more people to dine.

Exactly. Although I'm sure that was the plan. Dumb. They likely attracted nobody new with a bland generic redo, and lost a huge chunk of their current fan base.
Giving up their country theme? Have you seen the photos that were posted? There is one right above here. Painted all white inside, now has generic booths, bright lighting, and looks like 10,000 other restaurants.

I did not see the pictures. Do you have a link? Are they remodeling them all to get rid of the country look or are they leaving the ones in the south with the classic look? I could see them remodeling ones that are in the north or the west, trying to get more customers there. In the south you're only looking for a boycott.

I agree, even though I only ate there twice, and haven't been back in over twenty-four years.
To be honest, I prefer the cheese Kraft makes that has their name on it. It's amazing, especially the Extra Sharp Cheddar.

Cracker Barrel rebranding is dumb as hell, like half the reason you would go is for their old timey vibe. The food while decent was never something you’d want to go out of your way for.

It kinda reminds me of the Subway rebrand. That is, Subway went away from its NYC-inspired subway map look to a bland interior. It's still a good place to get a sandwich. I just haven't been back since they "had to" stop carrying black olives. If they've brought those back, I know where I'm going next time I want a sammich. lol

See Post #23 above. I thought there were more in the BB&B thread, but it must have been another one. I'm sure a quick search will pop some up.
They are remodeling them all.
They stupid. And it already cost them $100M yesterday, just jacking with the logo. Think how much more it will be once all the regular customers have walked inside their doors one more time.
Plus, they changed the menu. Geniuses.

I brought it up here a couple of weeks ago when the news of the change broke.
More evidence of Nashville going total woke.
Such a stupid decision.

Just like me. Except it's once or twice or 5 times a week for me. My wife has dementia, can't cook any more, and I'm not turning into Paula Deen any time soon.
I do all breakfast and lunch, but most dinners are on somebody else. I never hired on for that job, lol.

Woke CEO's dont poll. They know best and they tell their customers that.
The woke CEO thought cracker barrel and its customer base was too hicksville. And the customers needed to change, so change their environment so they can see what they are missing out on in liberal wokesville utopia.

Depending on what your wife can eat, simple meals should be fine. I mean stuff like spaghetti, burgers, and even chili. Heck, if you need, I (used to) have a recipe for something called Wendy's chicken casserole. I forget why it's called Wendy's chicken casserole, but I've made it and it's pretty darn good. It's not really hard at all. (Note: the following is off the top of my head so please don't get mad at me. lol)
You just use two boxes of Uncle Ben's (or whatever the hell it's called now) long grain wild rice (the regular kind, not the instant kind), a full stick of melted butter, a can each of the following soups (cream of mushroom, cream of celery, and cream of chicken), and of course, chicken breasts. (Usually about four or five if not even more.) I think you add the melted butter and some water to it once you put the soup mixture and the rice on top of the chicken. You then top it off with two cups of shredded cheddar cheese. (I prefer the freshly graded sharp cheddar cheese, but if you must, you can be like SK and get the bagged kind. lol In that case, I'd use a triple cheddar blend that Kraft makes.) You pop it in the oven at 375 degrees (preheated, of course) and let it cook for seventy-five minutes. You can take it out with thirty minutes left to cook and top it off with cheese if you want it to not be so hard on top, and you can even add sliced almonds between fifteen and thirty minutes left to cook. It's pretty darn good.

RE: Cracker Barrel loses $100M in cap value in one day
Thanks, GC. My sister gave me lots of simple recipes. I already knew how to cook spaghetti, meat loaf, pot roast, burgers, dogs, other grill items, etc.
But I have already been doing this for 4 years, I'm almost 80 now, and I'm just tired of it. Four meals a day is enough for me to prepare, lol.
Plus, I run my own private Memphis sports website, and I spend time here. Plus normal outside activities like gas, groceries, doctors, shooting range, road trips, etc.
That's enough time without cooking dinner, too, lol.
