Merchan breaks jury into 3 groups to weigh charges against Trump
Just a quick reminder. This entire case is about whether the correct paperwork was filed.

RE: Merchan breaks jury into 3 groups to weigh charges against Trump
The only hope to spoil the plot would be the miracle of a hung jury. But even then, they could turn around and perhaps start a new trial over in a few weeks, per some TV talking heads yesterday.
Also, the ones I saw said the appeal of a conviction could take a year and a half.
And you can bet if the Dems win, they are coming after SCOTUS next.

A hung jury would be a miracle, indeed. People like Bragg and Merchan, and all of their minions, are essentially incompetent at most things in life. But if there is one thing they know, it’s how to fix a fight. I don’t believe for one minute that they took any chances with this jury. I think a conviction on at least one count (out of 34, right?) is an absolute certainty, and probably a conviction on multiple counts. As long as Merchan has a few guilty counts to work with on sentencing, it really doesn’t matter if the jury acquits or is unable to reach a verdict on a few other counts. In fact, such a result would actually be good optics for the Democrats, who could then praise the jury’s “even-handedness” or some such.
Quote:the [TV-lawyers] I saw said the appeal of a conviction could take a year and a half.
There is some variation from case to case. But yeah, that sounds about right.
Quote:And you can bet if the Dems win, they are coming after SCOTUS next.
As night follows day. If, 8 months from now, you have a Dem trifecta in House/Senate/POTUS, then making some sort of move to break the current Supreme Court majority will be one of the top agenda items. Guaranteed.
This will take the form of public hearings about various ethical accusations against the justices appointed by GOP presidents, and bills to expand both the SCOTUS and the lower courts. Dems who were vague/silent on this issue before will suddenly find their voice and say “the time has come” blah-blah-blah.

I warned all of the Trump or nothing folks last year what was going to happen. It's happening.
Bear trap was set in the fall and everyone willingly stomped in it in primary season.
Liberals are sleazy but they know too many on the right are stubborn dummies.

Just personally, I voted for DeSantis in the primary and would do so again without hesitation. But with that said, there is no reason to believe that any non-Trump nominee would have a better chance in the election, compared to the chance Trump has right now.

We have a winnah!
They don't care about the appeal. They want him in home confinement with no travel allowed through the election.
just for shites and gigs, let's say that happens...
does he set up a faux jail cell at MAL, ankle inkling, broadcast daily with the whateverism du jour, and mimic the blubbering fool from the '19/'20 basement...

A lawyer-acquaintance asked me today to consider “a crazy theory” — that Merchan, for some reason, wants two distinct and seemingly contradictory outcomes. First, he wants Trump to be convicted by this jury in this trial that’s happening right now. And second, he also wants all of the convictions to be later overturned on appeal, after the election has passed.
I’m not ready to agree with that. And yet: if Merchan *Did* want both of those things to happen, what would he have done differently? Basically, nothing.

Quite so. I’ve been a member of the State Bar of Georgia for over 25 years. Have never, ever seen or heard of anything like that.
I'm guessing you never had the funding power of the CABAL .... bwahahahaha .... y'all still think this shite can be argued logically .... #sigh

On that super-fancy stick figure drawing, everything seems to start with a "sham invoices" from Cohen to the Trump organization.
Has Cohen been disbarred for that yet? Charged? Civilly sued?
That seems the predicate act.

The invoices that nobody can pin on Trump, that Cohen authorized and was testified to that Cohen authorized, only person who said differently is the liar?

The District Attorney's office elevated the falsification of business records charges to felonies from misdemeanors, alleging that this was done in the commission of another crime.
One group will weigh the issue of election fraud, another on tax fraud, and the third on falsification of business records. "To go further on this ABSURD instruction, the 'Honorable Judge' is splitting the jury up into 3 groups of 4. One group will handle election fraud, one tax fraud, and the third falsification of business records," Andrew Giuliani wrote.
Judge Merchan has also reportedly informed the jury that unanimity on the second crime is not required to convict Trump and that he will handle 4-4-4 as a unanimous verdict.
Closing arguments in the case were made on Tuesday, and the jury received instructions from Judge Merchan on Wednesday to begin their deliberations. Merchan also advised the jury to avoid speculating about matters related to sentencing, keeping their focus solely on the evidence and charges presented.
Trump’s defense team argued during a May 21 hearing that the jury should be required to agree on a "predicate" crime to find Trump guilty of the felony charges. Prosecutor Matthew Colangelo said that the law does not require jurors to do that. Merchan agreed with the prosecution.

Full stop. It’s correct and that’s why you don’t want to Apprentice.
He’s saying the jury doesn’t need to agree with what exactly was the underlined crime that was committed if they want to convict him. The can pick from a buffet of choices

How much has this kangaroo court cost the liberals in New York? For what purpose? That is the full stop.

RE: Merchan breaks jury into 3 groups to weigh charges against Trump
Quote:Jurors are BACK for a third time. New York law doesn't let jurors have Judge Merchan's 50+ pages of jury instructions. If they can't remember all of his hour-long instructions they have to ask for them to be reread to them, and so far they've gone back over 30+ pages. Think of the last hour-long TV show you watched: How many specific lines can you remember from it?
Not only that, but the juror don't have access to witness testimony transcripts either. They need to ask for all of that to be read back to them too!
Does anybody think this is a reasonable way to achieve justice? New York is a ridiculous state with ridiculous laws and this is a ridiculous case. The prosecution's hope is the jury will be so confused and baffled that they'll simply convict to get it over with.
There's a reason the left uses New York as its venue of choice for politically-motivated sham prosecutions.
