We all thought it would be Arizona that killed the PAC 12, but it's Washington and Oregon. Would we want to join a merged MWC and PAC or hold out to see what happens to the ACC.

RE: The first P5 about to implode?
Now the remaining corner schools will go Big 12, if the Big 12 wants all 3.
The good news?
UConn, Cal, Stanford, Oregon State and Washington State actually are getting gored much worse than the the University of Memphis on this round of conference carousel. So we're not the biggest loser. Go Tigers!!!

Yep. Also how big or a discount to the full Big 10 member payout do Oregon and Washington have to take and for how long? How many GOR years? And maybe that is already negotiated and all the drama of the last 18 hours was just the last gasp of a dying Pac 12?
I think the drama is a last gasp & a reflection of how entrenched Stanford, Cal are - and how desperately ASU wants to maintain that relationship, to the near complete disregard for their athletic programs. Maybe that's putting commitments in the right priority but it's disappointing at the same time to sports fans who value high level college competition.
Does anyone doing any talking actually know the specifics of Apple's current offer to the PAC?
It's been reported at near $20M base per school avg based upon a 12 (or maybe 10)school conference (can escalate with increased subscriptions) & having a GOR in place, with an offer expiration date of today. GOR has now been voted down (this morning), UA is wanting to join the B12 & UW/UO are being considered by the B1G. So it's a moving target at best with likely diminished value & interest by Apple as time passes. And to add complexity, the PAC is at 9 schools currently.
Right, that was the rumor, but it was thin on specifics. Moot point at this stage with the B1G announcement.

Yep, the PAC is dead & the Apple offer no longer relevant.

RE: The first P5 about to implode?
What's strange is, in this article, McMurphy states that Arizona and ASU have already departed the PAC.
Sources: Oregon, Washington to Join Big Ten, Leave Pac-12
Quote:Even though the Big Ten started the Pac-12’s downfall by grabbing USC and UCLA last year, the league did not want “the Pac-12’s blood on its hands” by taking Oregon and Washington before any other members left, sources said.
However, with the departures of Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado, the Big Ten saw the opportunity to add the Ducks and Huskies without paying them full media shares since the Pac-12 is in “disarray,” sources said.

With the B1G announcement, it inevitable if not yet announced. The only thread left to be determined is the fate of the remaining PAC schools, particularly Stanford & Cal (knowing WSU & OSU will just accept anything) & could it involve the AAC & MEMPHIS.

It was nice to think the remaining members might band together to save the Pac 12. But, in life, even with pretentious schools of higher learning, the money almost always wins out.

Certainly seems inevitable, but the wording was very specific. I do feel Memphis may be getting more attention from the PAC, considering current events, but I'm not sure that's the best option for us at this point.
I also don't see how Kliavkoff survives this.

McMurphy should have said "anticipated" departures. Just moving too fast is my guess.

But much value in the PAC left besides the name & NCAA credits.

Maybe so, but not with the existing "leadership" at the helm. The next few weeks will certainly be interesting.

For us? None, imo. Who wants to be in a conference with 4 schools that are over 2,000 miles with us that weren't good while in the Pac 12, and now will almost certainly be much worse without USC and Oregon funding them? Not me.
Also, is it too late to kick out Charlotte and Rice?
