Apparently they couldn't "land the plane". The mystery continues.

Yup. Once these being conference cable deals are gone in 10 years its going to be fun to watch the Bamas and OSUs throw the Vandy's and Miss States to the curb to get a bigger piece of a shrinking pie instead of taking less money overall

I personally want to see the PAC hold it together. Losing the PAC is bad for college sports.

Apple has a vested interest in the PAC12 staying together. Whatever their offer was (I know $20m per school was floated, but it has the potential to go higher based on subscribers), Apple made that offer to the complete PAC12... Not whoever is left after the potential exodus.

So you believe it's outside the realm of possibility that Apple realized their lowball offer was going to leave them with nothing, so they returned with a much better offer, affording them an opportunity to get some skin in the CFB game? Don't you think it's quite odd that literally overnight, momentum has shifted so dramatically?

No, I think that's entirely possible. Maybe even likely, considering the sudden change in only a day.

Streaming has the potential to dramatically change the landscape in ways we've never even envisioned. It's not outside the realm of possibility that schools will eventually migrate to being their own content providers.

Yep. Also how big or a discount to the full Big 10 member payout do Oregon and Washington have to take and for how long? How many GOR years? And maybe that is already negotiated and all the drama of the last 18 hours was just the last gasp of a dying Pac 12?

Again, just get on with the shake up’s, realignment and the eventual breakaway so the rest of us schools can get on with our minor league stuff and us fans can pick a team to cheer for in the big boy division if we so choose.

Boxing matches use to be free on ABC, then one day they changed to PPV

If you want to see Alabama vs Georgia, then 19.95 PPV for the one event

If you want to see Alabama vs Samford, then 5.99 PPV

B1G has scheduled an impromptu meeting this morning. I expect Oregon and Washington will leave the PAC. Apple better come up with something good if they want to retain the rest of the conference, and they would be wise to allow for expansion up to 16 teams. Safety in numbers.

That's not too outlandish. I could easily see the biggest brands moving to such a model, cutting out the conference middleman and eliminating the subsidization of conference bottom feeders.

I think the drama is a last gasp & a reflection of how entrenched Stanford, Cal are - and how desperately ASU wants to maintain that relationship, to the near complete disregard for their athletic programs. Maybe that's putting commitments in the right priority but it's disappointing at the same time to sports fans who value high level college competition.

Does anyone doing any talking actually know the specifics of Apple's current offer to the PAC?

Yeah some people already do that. For me, unless more parity magically occurs, I won’t be watching much college football other than the Tigers.

SEC teams already had PPVs before the SEC Network, Like 10 years ago. Arkansas had several home non con games via PPV.

It's been reported at near $20M base per school avg based upon a 12 (or maybe 10)school conference (can escalate with increased subscriptions) & having a GOR in place, with an offer expiration date of today. GOR has now been voted down (this morning), UA is wanting to join the B12 & UW/UO are being considered by the B1G. So it's a moving target at best with likely diminished value & interest by Apple as time passes. And to add complexity, the PAC is at 9 schools currently.
