The people manning those sites are armed and for good reason but why can't the same thing be done in our schools. In our military if you do extra dangerous work (bomb disposal, paratroopers, seals, etc) you get rewarded with bonuses so why can't school teachers, administrators even custodians be granted that same privilege by manning the entrances to schools. These people (unlike the ones at Wal Mart where most of them are just unarmed security guards) would be packing heat to thwart any malevolent person of any of the two persuasions, LOL, from committing an atrocity.

There's ways of stopping/preventing school shootings but school boards (which are mostly manned by Leftists) are against it. "Oh my gosh, they want guns in our schools" not with any common sense mind you because the only ones right now are the ones committing mass murders and no one to stop them.

This was a private school. They could have whatever security policy they want and don’t have to deal with an elected school board.

A lot of public schools want to provide additional security (like controlled entry through the office, hardened classroom doors, etc) but are hampered by funding. Most schools get just enough money per year to keep the lights on and capital projects that don’t come from state or federal grants are few and far between.

We spend more on schools than most countries so funding is not the issue. Like most government run programs waste is the issue.

Most countries don’t need armed security in their schools. Most countries don’t need to modify their schools to secure the front entrance. Most countries don’t need to install hardened classroom doors so teachers can lock down their classroom.

The problem we are dealing with is mostly an American one.

Oh frick off with this bullshite. Move.

How many school shootings are in other counties vs USA?

This is an American problem that basically doesn’t exist in other countries or is once a decade and not multiple times a year.

Now, narrow that down to how many countries of similar size and population yada yada? You can't treat this as an apples to apples comparison.

It is an American problem but when broken down by numbers these events are statistically insignificant.

Doesn't change anything. Take some of the money we waste and make our schools more secure. Could also try teaching young people values and morals which would be nice versus putting out litter boxes for kids who think they are cats.

How do we know it doesn't deter crime?

If Mr. Soon-to-be-criminal saw an execution, how do we know he didn't say, "Welp, I guess it's a no-go."

Capital punishment = 0% recidivism rates.

This is true.

Do you feel the same way for all crime that causes death or great bodily injury? I can assure you more children are killed every year in this country by drunk drivers than in school shootings....

dead is dead and someone that takes a gun or drives a car while drunk made the choice to do that.
_____________________________________

Taking God out of schools isn't the cause of the crazies. When people point to the days when kids has a shotgun in their truck at school and God was still present in the classroom.....

You did not have the internet or all the bloody gory at the finger tips of children of all ages. If you want to blame one thing you can start with that and the fact all of these people can find some form of group thinking to make them feel like they are the normal ones.

The internet and what all that connect you to is the common thread in what we are seeing today. But not one of these school shooters are thinking..."I'm going to get the death penalty if I go shoot up this school". My guess is most if not all go into it believing they are dead at the end of the shootings.

You can spend a billions and it wont stop a crazy person from shooting up a school. And when you consider the amount of children in our schools the death rate is rather low. Especially considering those killed each year by drunks.

Yet we go ape shite crazy when its a shooting and mostly close our eyes to the children killed by the drunks....

the reason most people are drunks including those making the laws. Or have drove drunk many many times in their life and just not killed anyone. So they over look it and ignore that problem or call it an accident. Then go crazy when some mental ill person shoots up a school. Killing is killing no matter what was used a gun or car and both are by choices a person makes

God has zero to do with either because that should be something a child is taught at home. If you believe the school should be doing the teaching then you have no argument on the things we believe parents should be teaching and not the school.

It doesn't take 100s of million each year in funds for a swat unit how hard is it to lock all doors and make sure they stay locked during school. Put a damn fence around every school with one way in and one way out. One police officer (most have them already) controls all doors and gate to the fence. Cameras are so cheap today and most of us have them on our doors on home so why not on every door and the outside. While it might not stop all my guess is 99% and 1% will take advantage of when school lets out and the gate opens

And yet the libs don't demand that alcohol and/or cars be banned.

But I will say this, to me drinking ad driving -- today with rideshare so easily available -- should now be considered pre-meditated.

As far as not having the internet spewing violence and gore, I agree. There is way too much trash being pumped into peoples' brains.

But back in the 50 and before there were censor boards at studios. They knew what violated decency laws. Heck, every city had their own censor board which could prevent shows or movies from airing in their local community.

The FCC had very strict regulations about what could be broadcast.

I would be perfectly ok with going back to the days of filtering filth out of public life.

But too many people say adults should be able to do what they want.

Well, that's kinda the reason for rules and laws -- because people CAN'T do whatever they want.

Yes and no.

We could probably reduce the number of casualties by getting rid of guns, but then the assailants just use other means. Not to mention that bad guys will have guns for decades while the law abiding citizens will be the only ones disarmed, and that would create chaos. Oh yeah, and there's that 2nd amendment.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-59916035

So, we really need to focus on mental health and keeping weapons out of the hands of those who are unstable, which is a very difficult thing to do.

someone posted about 12 step programs and admitting you had a problem was the first step to fix it.

Your attitude above is the reason that nothing will be done and we will continue to have school shootings. You can’t admit that this is a problem that other countries don’t have.

Now, narrow that down to how many countries of similar size and population yada yada? You can't treat this as an apples to apples comparison.

It is an American problem but when broken down by numbers these events are statistically insignificant.

From 2009 until 2018 the US had 288 school shootings.

The next highest country (Mexico) had 8.

Chicago had 5699 murders in that same time frame.. Again, take the weapons away from criminals before enacting laws that affect law abiding gun owners. Why ain't you harping on that? That's 5699 innocent lives snuffed out.

Wait.. Doesn't fit the narrative.

Go back and quote where I said we should take weapons away from law abiding gun owners.

I’ll wait.
You know what.. You're right, you didn't post that.

Sorry got you confused with someone else. Apologies.

My point still stands.

Yes and no.

We could probably reduce the number of casualties by getting rid of guns, but then the assailants just use other means. Not to mention that bad guys will have guns for decades while the law abiding citizens will be the only ones disarmed, and that would create chaos. Oh yeah, and there's that 2nd amendment.

So, we really need to focus on mental health and keeping weapons out of the hands of those who are unstable, which is a very difficult thing to do.

I dont think there has been a single school shooting in North Korea

I really cant deal with the level of a stupidity displayed by prog filth.

I had a feeling when I found out this was a Christian school that it wouldn't go the way the degenerate left wanted it to go.
