This is about as absurd of an "expectation" as it gets unless you're talking about a 16-16 First Four matchup.
Yep. “absurd” is an appropriate way to describe 4evers recent posts…who still hasn’t explained where his 15 years came from.
There’s not a true JMU fan alive who doesn’t desire that both the men and women’s teams make the NCAAT, and do so regularly. To start gritching, however, that Coach B hasn’t already made the NCAAT in his 3rd year at JMU is borderline nuts.
The SBC is (for now and the foreseeable future) a one bid league. That’s not to say the league is bad or is not competitive. The SBC has several excellent teams, and earning the league’s sole bid will be extraordinarily difficult in any year. Winning the SBC’s bid in back-to back years would be phenomenal, and even more difficult. Not knowing the league’s full history I can’t say this as a fact, but I doubt there have been very many back-to-back MBB tourney winners in the SBC.
Again, all JMU fans desire to support a program that makes regular NCAAT appearances. That is the goal after all. Yet, to “expect” that outcome in a one-bid league? And with a JMU program that’s only made the D1 NCAAT five times in over 50 years of competing?
Desire, hope, rooting and wishful thinking are one thing. “Expecting” is another. For a 3rd year JMU HC Byington has made the program competitive. I “expect” Byington’s teams to have a chance to win every SBC game. Let’s start with being grateful for that improvement, and hope the team prevails in the grueling SBC tournament.
