Last year we got matched up with San Diego State. Not long before the game our star RB and CUSA player of the year dropped out to declare early for the draft. Right before the game happened, we also had 20 players have to sit out for covid. Really left a sour taste, naturally they stomped us.

I do not want to go through players sitting out of a bowl again this year. For either side.

Yeah that's such a disappointing way to see things end. I hope none of that stuff for this matchup, it should be a really great one and stuff like that would really be a shame.

Well about that...lol. UTSA is already without 7 starters for the remainder of the season. Coach Traylor said that winning the conference championship this year was even more special than last year because of it. Had TONS of injuries early in the season. Hell, we've had so many injuries on our offensive line alone that we're actually playing with a converted defensive lineman on our offensive line right now.

We had no luck last year either as we were missing about 9 starters (if I recall correctly) in our loss to San Diego State. That was a mixture of COVID-related symptoms to guys sitting out to prepare for the NFL Combine though, as we were actually near full strength for the majority of the rest of the season.

Geez. Not only will I not be able to go because it's on a Friday and I have work. But the game apparently starts at 2pm central, meaning most of the country won't even be home from work until it's already over. I'll be shocked if this game gets decent television ratings. Real downer for what looks to be a terrific matchup.

Either a mod change the title to a game thread format or a Troy fan make one and we can close this.

Two starting receivers have been out since mid season. Backup LB and DT (both are very good) have been out since the same time. Can't think of anyone else.

The downside of the circumstances is it guarantees only one of Troy or UTSA will finished ranked in the post-bowl polls.
