The new brick wall is really neat looking. It's giving me PNC Park vibes (the Pittsburgh Pirates ballpark). Although plastering ads all over it cheapen the look quite a bit. Hopefully we don't overdo it in that respect.

Hope we get better crowds than that.

We will. Our squads of the future will be much better than anything we've seen over the last seven years. I forget what it feels like to cheer. That being said, I can't wait to give Bloomgren hell this season. He's going to feel my wrath. I don't even care that a police officer escorts him on and off the field. What's he going to do?

I LOVE the idea of a huge Owl over their tunnel. We need a great loud screech as they enter. Any way we can make it regurgitate pellets on them?

I didn't mean for it to be something we would see.

I get it now. I thought you meant on the stadium side where they come out. We should have a matching one there too.

As a wrap or paint, this is easy in this location.
Making it 3D adds complexity and wind resistance.
Inside, visible to the fans, it also is a target for place kicks, and I wonder what the impact of a football might do to a sculpture.

Are there rules for what can be displayed on the capture net for kicked balls? If there aren't, there ought to be. I can think of all sorts of things to put on the nets to distract opposing kickers.

Rice has long had an affiliation with AllState, and their logo is/was on the nets.

BTW, the owl photograph is by Jim Cumming, and is used here without permission - it is only a suggestion.

RE: HRS / EZF Athletics Construction Thread
The net would probably prevent it from being hit with footballs. I did some research on what it would cost to have it done, and we're looking at about $3500 to have a 6' by 8' sculpture made. Six feet being the height, and eight feet being the wingspan.

I have looked all over the internet trying to find an example of what we're proposing here, but no one has made an owl. I see a couple examples of eagles, but no owls, at least not big, angry looking ones. I'll keep looking for artists and prices. This could be tough.

There's a company that makes incredible, very detailed animals for carousels, but I wonder if they could take on a special project. Their product looks like it's made of fiberglass. I'll post when I find it again. Very nice stuff.

Quick add...If we're able to follow through with this, I think the picture you provided should be our template. This is your idea after all. You planted the seed.

The tunnel is roughly 25’ wide.

8' x 10' ? Any bigger than that and it might be ridiculously big.

Add charging stations, TVs and 'servers' to the flight decks and that's precisely what I suggested be done on this forum (and in person) a few years ago

The fact that even though they are not horizontal, they are STILL out of alignment with the ones that are will bother me even more than that...

Avert your eyes.
The hypotenuse is going to be longer in every right triangle.
It's not quite a 13:12 ratio.
Suggestion1: cover the corners with a wrap-around pad and call it a safety feature.
Suggestion2: tear them off of the stub wall and craft a forced-perspective optical illusion version that will leave the field-level security people cross-eyed.
Suggestion3: tear them off of the stub wall and replace them with horizontal courses. Getting those to line up with the uppers and lowers will be challenging, but nothing that a slightly wider or narrower grout space can't deal with.
